Device

The single-axle tractor MB 1 was very popular at one time, namely, in the eighties. nineties of the last century.

At that time, the market of special equipment, if it can be called such, was filled with products of Soviet factories, among the products of which the technique “Luch” was considered one of the best of its kind. The Luch MB 1 single-axle tractor confidently competed with the similar Niva power tiller.

It properly performed its basic function. to cultivate a field or a garden, transport goods: crops, firewood, building materials. That was the time when self-made trailers began to spread, and the tendency to turn these power tillers into mini-tractors was established.

Though the technical characteristics of the “Luch” MB 1 are inferior to modern power tillers in many respects, at the peak of its distribution they were at their best. the weight of the device assembled is one hundred kilograms, the speed from 3.6 to 9 kilometers per hour, on a level track, loaded, it consistently gives 8-99 kilometers per hour.

Acceleration up to a hundred, in principle, is possible, but only in very specific conditions, which hardly anyone has recreated. Fuel consumption is 1,5-2 liters per hour, the volume of the fuel tank is 3,6 liters, that is why experienced drivers always have a reserve canister with fuel.

A big plus is that the engine does not require constant filling of the oil. just timely maintenance, if necessary. The single-axle tractor is easy enough to operate. no great physical effort is required.

The minimum space required for turning has a radius of only 1100 millimeters. Driving of the walking tractor is smooth, thanks to the chain reducer with V-belt drive, gear shifting is smooth and jerk-free.

The transmission is reliable enough, with two forward and two reverse gears, and the engine is powerful enough for such a product. 5 hp. for good traction and stable speed. High cross-country ability and traction achieved by pneumatic tires with a large tread.

MB 1 is also easy to transport thanks to its quick-release handlebar and wheels. As for possible malfunctions, the occurrence of which is inevitable in the operation of any equipment, especially manufactured during the Soviet era, the repair of motor-block “Luch” will not be a serious problem.

Over the years that it has been used by farmers, cottagers and landowners a great deal of information has accumulated about the fast, inexpensive and reliable repair of. Thanks to the experience of its owners, who have found all the causes of failure, you will be able to repair your single-axle tractor “Beam” without excessive costs.

Malfunctions, no matter how serious they may seem, can be eliminated in the home workshop, using the most common tools, without resorting to the help of specialists. The only thing required of you is to diagnose the breakage as accurately as possible, and then it is a matter of little.

Composition

The motoblock gearbox includes the following important parts:

  • screws;
  • bearings;
  • axles;
  • sprockets;
  • housing;
  • bushings;
  • shift levers;
  • gears;
  • shaft;
  • clutch;
  • half axles;
  • board;
  • spring.

These are not all of the elements involved in the design of the reducer, but they are the key. Failure of one of them results in loss of performance and subsequent repairs.

Compared to a worm gearbox, a chain-and-worm gearbox is more reliable. It is convenient and easy to use, and can support reversing functions. The design is generally collapsible, with all components bolted together so that the chains and gears can be inspected as needed. Such reducers are installed on large crawler tractors that need a sturdy and reliable unit to transmit the force to wheels and cutters.

Most simple and common cause is a broken or sprained chain, but problems can be solved by anyone without calling a service center.

Repairs and malfunctions

Despite the fact that the Salyut range of power tillers is reliable, in some cases the gearboxes have malfunctions. Let’s consider the main problems that can be encountered, and how to deal with them:

  • Weak recoil after an oil change (no sealing, need to reinstall the packing and apply sealant).
  • Metal noise is heard (as a rule, it appears due to a lack of lubrication, maintenance is required immediately).
  • The mechanism hums (there is excess of mixture in the gearbox, you need to drain the excess fluid).

Other malfunctions may also occur due to broken bearings or gears, as well as dust covers, here it is necessary to immediately replace worn parts.

Today’s special equipment includes many quality structural elements. However, even so, it can be subject to breakdowns. Often, the failure of nodes associated with a lack of lubrication, which is extremely detrimental to the metal. That is why, in order not to face unnecessary waste of money, it is recommended to carry out timely maintenance. In this case the working machine will perform all its duties for a long time.

How to change the oil correctly

Proper use of the machine is assured by timely oil changes. It is able to provide a high degree of productivity, increasing the service life of the power tiller.

If you use the machine too often, especially at higher speeds, you put it on the fast track for wear. Specialists do not recommend installing additional cutters by hand.

The chains are the first to suffer from increased loads. they slip because of damaged bushings. Excessive side loads cause wear of thrust washers and thus chain malfunctions. It is not recommended to operate the machine on a slope or turn sharply.

The Cascade single axle tractor requires oil filling every 50 hours. Before choosing engine oil and fuel, you should study the operating instructions in detail. See the Repair section for a list of manufacturer’s recommended substances that are specific to your model.

In summer it is worth to use 15W-40 oils, in winter. 10W-40, also domestic products are suitable. For transmission you should use TAP-15B, TAD-17I or 75W-90, 80W-90.

Using a power tiller it is important not to forget to check the oil level, change it regularly. This is the only way to prolong the working life of your land helper.

To change the oil correctly, the following rules must be followed:

change, seal, gearbox, your
  • install the machine so that the wings are parallel to the surface and the gearbox is tilted;
  • it is best to put the single-axle tractor on an elevated position, so it will be easier to drain the old oil;
  • unscrew the fill and drain plugs, do not forget to put a container or a pan;
  • after draining the old fluid, tighten the drain plug, pour fresh oil through the filler plug.

You can check the oil level in the gearbox with a dipstick or a wire (70 cm will be enough). It must be lowered into the filling hole all the way to the bottom. The volume that needs to be filled is 25 cm.

The easiest and most common cause of failure is a broken or stretched chain, but any user can fix the problem without going to a service center.

How to change oil seals on a power tiller?

The oil seals on your power tiller are consumables that need to be replaced regularly. It is necessary to change these parts at the first sign of oil leakage from the motoblock gearbox, otherwise the oil will completely leak from the mechanism, causing the latter to succumb to increased wear.

Replacement of the oil seal of a motor-block is performed in the following sequence:

  • First you need to remove the cutters from the shaft of the motoblock and thoroughly clean the built-in shaft of accumulated dirt, debris and oil residue;
  • Next, it is necessary to unscrew the bolts securing the cover of the installed reducer, knock the cover and carefully remove it;
  • After that, it will be necessary to pull out the old used oil seal, put a new one instead, and apply a thin strip of sealant along the edges of the connector;
  • All further assembly of the cutters on the shaft of your power harvester is performed in reverse order.

Timely replacement of worn oil seals will prevent oil leakage from the gearbox of the motoblock, and will give the opportunity to preserve the service life of the rubbing parts of the mechanism. All of the above methods of oil selection, lubrication and replacement of oil seals are suitable for power tillers of the brands Neva MB-1 and MB-2,Farmer, Kaskad and Oka. Gearboxes in these motoblocks have a simple design, which allows you to perform their maintenance even a novice farmer.
