If a metal wire is installed instead of a fishing line, the grass trimmer becomes a dangerous device not only for the user, but also for the people around. This fact is explained by the fact that during the operation of the unit, the steel rope will gradually be triggered, its ends will unravel, and small pieces of wire will fly in different directions with great speed.
Similar happens when using steel or copper wire, the only difference is that the pieces torn off will be larger and can cause significant injury.

How to tuck the fishing line into the grass trimmer reel
To change a line in your trimmer, cut a piece of material of the right size by folding it in half. One of the halves should be 5-10 cm longer than the other.
In order to wind the line correctly on the spool, the middle of the line, folded in a loop, must be placed in the groove of the center divider. One half of the line is wound tightly onto the upper part and the other half onto the lower part. The longer part is wound onto the lower one. Wind it in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the head. There should be an arrow on the lid or side of the head indicating the direction of rotation. The line must be wound in the opposite direction of the arrow. Do the work carefully, pressing the coil to the coil tightly.
Insert the remaining ends, 10-15 cm long, in the slots on the top edge of the spool, this will secure them. With the ends fastened, the coil will not unwind.
If you do not have enough line in one piece, it is possible to wind it in two pieces instead of one. In this case, bend the end of the line with a hook and insert it into the slot in the center divider of the bobbin. Do the same with the second piece. Now wind first one piece and then the other on your halves of the spool against its direction of rotation.
To thread fishing line into the grass trimmer, push the line ends into the holes in the mowing head and pull them out. Put the spool on the axle and push it down so that it sits in place, and again pull on the ends of the cutting thread to pull it all the way out.
The outer ends should almost reach the blade guard. Cut off any excess. To do this, use the steel plate on the guard to act as a knife and automatically cut off excessive line lengths as the head unwinds.
Spool is covered with a protective cap. Slide it back into place and press down until the catches click into place. Always check that the cover is properly engaged in the grass trimmer and that the pawls click into place, otherwise it could come off while you’re working. This will cause the spool to be ejected by the spinning action.
Do not try to wrap as much material as possible, otherwise the spool may not fit in place and there will be problems with fitting and securing the cover. It is better if the spool is filled with fishing line so that it does not exceed the size of the piece.
In addition to mechanical mowers with two blades, there are also models with one. They differ in that the cutting line comes out on one side only. A reel for such kinds of scythes may not have a central partition, instead of it a slot in the bottom flange is used for setting a nonworking end of a line, in the upper flange there is also a slot for fixation of the working end.
With the replaced fishing line you can start working. Do not mow thick weeds and bush branches. this is not a job for a grass mower. To prevent injury and line breakage, do not allow stones or branches to get under the brushcutter.
For lawn mowing, one filling of a spool of reinforced line is sufficient for an area of 400 to 600 m2.
Once the cutting filament has worn out as a result of operation, turn the mower off and remove the cover on the mowing head. Pull the fishing line out of the slot, pulling it out to the desired length, and insert it back into the slots. The amount of material wound on the spool is enough for 5-10 cycles of work, depending on the model of the device. When you will install the cover in place, look carefully to see if the grooves where the retainers are inserted are clogged, if they are clogged, then carefully clean them.
When the line wears out, you need to disassemble the mowing head again, pull out the spool and rewind the working line on it.
