How To Light A Gas Water Heater Bosch

Distinctive features of units

Bosch has a very wide range of speakers compared to its competitors. Each model differs in the type of ignition, performance, design and dimensions. As for the colors, the German company produces units in white and gray.

Almost all geysers are designed in Germany, the only exceptions are inexpensive modifications, which are assembled in China. Currently on the market are certain series of Bosch gas water heaters. When choosing, first of all, it is advisable to rely on the required performance and financial capabilities.

Therm 6000 S and 8000 S series

These geysers are industrial. Their productivity is 24 and 27 liters per minute. Thanks to these indicators, such models are able to supply several points of water intake at the same time. They have electric ignition and information display.

Bosch gas water heater device

Many consumers, purchasing water heaters, do not even have an idea of how the Bosch gas water heater is arranged. The internal structure of a German-made unit consists of a body, a mounting hole, window views, a water pressure regulator, a fitting for a gas hose, a chimney, a draft sensor, equipped with a protective manifold, combustion chambers, piezo ignition and water unit.

If we consider the work of a gas water heater, for example, with piezo ignition, then it is quite simple and elementary to operate. In order to start using such a column, you must first set the water temperature regulator to the position On and only then press the button. It is held in the thermostat until the column turns on. It is also used to select the required water temperature.

If we consider the peculiarity of the operation of a gas water heater with automatic ignition, then in this case it is even easier to use it. If just such a Bosch gas water heater was purchased, how to light it? This is very easy to remember. To do this, you need to open the hot water tap, which is located on the mixer. After that, the unit will turn on independently.

Manual

If you use the unit correctly and know how to light a Bosch gas water heater, the technique will seem very simple to operate. Before starting work, you need to open the water and gas taps. You can light a column in several ways:

  • Manually. This method is mainly used in older models only. To do this, you need to open the water supply and the main valve for the fuel flow, then light the wick with matches and turn on the valve for gas supply. The disadvantage of such units is that it will also be necessary to turn off the valve manually.
  • With the help of piezo ignition. Such Bosch gas instantaneous water heaters are classified as semi-automatic. First you need to light the main burner, turn on the main regulator in the fuel supply. To ignite the wick, you will need to press the button.
  • Automatically. These Bosch gas instantaneous water heaters are considered to be improved. Everyone, without exception, can use them, since their launch is simplified as much as possible. The only drawback of such columns is that water is supplied at low pressure in many houses, which prevents the normal operation of the turbine.

Any column must be accompanied by instructions for correct operation. You definitely need to get acquainted with it.

Therm 2000 Series O

This column refers to the budget segment. Its capacity is ten liters of hot water per minute. This Bosch instantaneous gas water heater is equipped with an automatic ignition, a stainless steel burner and a copper tubular heat exchanger.

Also, the column has a flame control, a gas control system and an emergency draft sensor. The column is rather small and costs an average of about 8 thousand rubles.

Gas water heater Bosch: how to light it up, how it works, operating manual

For many years the Bosch trading corporation has been considered one of the most legendary. The company is very successful in presenting its products all over the world, ranging from power tools and ending with large household appliances. Heating equipment is considered a completely separate line of this world famous brand.

For a long time, gas and solid fuel boilers are considered the most popular. Russian consumers most often prefer to purchase mainly brand speakers Bosch. This demand is explained primarily by the quality, durability and reasonable cost of equipment from a German manufacturer.

Traction check

Before igniting an open column, be sure to check the presence of draft. It will not be if the chimney is clogged with soot and debris. In this case, carbon monoxide can extinguish the burner and enter the room. Latest models Bosch, Junkers, Vaillant Equipped with protection system. It turns off the equipment or does NOT allow starting in the absence of traction.

To do a self-check, do this:

  • Light a match or candle and bring it to the control window. The flame is deflected. The thrust is there. Burns evenly. Comments.
  • If the window comments, remove the cover of the device and put fire to the chimney. The result is described above.

Manual way

Used in rare copies of the old model. NOT too comfortable and safe.

  • The tap on the water pipe opens, which is supplied to the column.
  • Gas valve opens.
  • The wick is ignited with matches.
  • The main fuel supply valve turns on.

It is important that in this case the device will NOT turn off as soon as you turn off the tap. You need to disable it manually.

How to turn on the gas water heater BOSCH?

2016-10-28 Evgeny Fomenko

We will consider how to light a bosch gas water heater using the example of models of gas flowing water heaters Bosch WR10.B, WR13.B, WR15.B manufactured in Germany, for the market, Ukraine, Belarus. These models differ in the amount of heated water.

Bosch WR10.B, WR13.B, WR15.B

Before starting, check if the gas and water valves are open, if two R-type batteries of 1.5 V are inserted. These heater models are equipped with an electric ignition, as indicated by the B index at the end of the name. Electric ignition occurs with batteries.

To turn on the device, you need to press the power button on the front panel of the device, the speaker is ready for work, is in standby mode. In order for the heated water to flow, you just need to open the tap. At this point, the pilot flame ignites and after four seconds the main flame is ignited, thus the pilot flame extinguishes after approximately twenty seconds.

These devices have a constantly burning wick, which is economical since there is a constant gas flow. During a long break in operation, air can accumulate in the gas system, which will impede the correct operation of the igniter and, as a result, and will not be able to ignite the main burner.

To eliminate this problem, you need to open and close the hot water tap several times. Water heating is regulated by reducing its flow, by turning the valve clockwise it decreases, counterclockwise, respectively, on the contrary, the flow increases and the temperature decreases. At low water temperatures, gas consumption is reduced and less scale is formed in the heat exchanger.

In addition to the startup procedure, you can also find out about setting up the column:

Gas column device

Each user should know the principle of operation of the equipment that he installs in his home. This ensures correct and safe operation.

The column consists of a metal case and:

  • Gas unit;
  • Water node;
  • Hoods;
  • Radiator (heat exchanger)
  • Burners;
  • Work control sensors.

How all speakers work Electrolux, Neva, Beretta is the same:

  • When turned on, water begins to flow into the system.
  • Under pressure, the diaphragm expands and opens the gas supply valve.
  • The burner ignites and heats up the liquid that circulates through the heat exchangers.
  • Combustion products are discharged through ventilation and chimney.

It is believed that the installation of gas water heaters in an apartment or house. It’s an unsafe business. This was the case during the manual firing models. Today, manufacturers equip equipment with sensors that monitor the presence of traction, water heating, in order to prevent an emergency. But after all, you should not neglect the safety rules.

If you smell gas:

  • Immediately cut the gas supply.
  • Ventilate the room.
  • DO NOT connect electrical appliances until the room is completely ventilated.
  • Contact the gas service.

Self-launch

It is possible to ignite the burner of the gas column in several ways.

Therm 4000 S WTD 12/15/18 AM E23 / 31.

Before starting, you must make sure that, on the plate installed by the manufacturer on the device, the gas marking corresponds to the gas to be connected to the device. The device has the ability to connect a remote control, which completely duplicates the work of the display on the speaker.

Open the gas cock and water valves. Connect the device to the mains.

The water temperature set by the manufacturer is 42 degrees, this is the optimal temperature.

To turn on the device, you just need to press the button to turn it on and open the hot water tap. To adjust the temperature, press the button or. and select the temperature you need. Until your chosen temperature is reached, the display will flash.

If It does not reach this value within thirty seconds, the water tap icon is displayed on the monitor, which indicates the need to increase or decrease the water consumption. If you press button P, the programmed constant temperature of 42 degrees appears. Setting the minimum temperature reduces energy consumption and makes it possible to reduce limescale deposits in the heat exchanger.

But if you know how to turn on the column, but are faced with malfunctions (the flame goes out, but does not ignite), then read this article, which describes the reasons and methods for their elimination.

Descaling process

To eliminate deposits of magnesium and calcium salts (scale) in the heat exchange radiator pipe, you will need to remove it and prepare it for flushing with an acid-containing solution. Note that soot cleaning must be performed before descaling.

It is not profitable to spill prepared cleaning liquid based on citric acid aimlessly. Be sure to use a funnel to fill the heat exchange tube completely

DO NOT try to sod or knock off scale inside the copper tube of the heat exchanger! Firstly, this is an almost useless exercise, because K. Most of the mineral deposits in the depth of the pipe will be inaccessible for stripping. Secondly, scratching the thin walls of the tube will weaken its strength and cause deformation.

The following tools will help to remove scale in the column:

No other means like Coca cola or home-made solutions based on active acids (hydrochloric, nitric, sulfuric, etc.) It is not allowed to use for descaling. Soda will NOT work, and acidic solutions can damage the tube.

It is necessary to turn the heat exchanger with the radiator plates down and the tube inlet / outlet upward, insert a funnel into the tube and pour the prepared cleaning solution. Chemical descaling will take several hours, so it is more convenient to fill the heat exchange radiator with a solution from evening to morning.

If a column that has been regularly operated for several years has NOT been descaled before, then the solution cleaner needs to be changed two or three times in full cleaning. Otherwise, although the scale layer will be reduced, it will be completely eliminated.

After waiting for the time required for the destruction of scale deposits (more than 4 hours), it is required to pour out the cleaning agent and rinse the tube with a large volume of clean water. During the flushing process, it is important to remove all sludge fragments that have separated from the pipe walls outside.

The reasons for overheating the water by the column and how to fix the problem will be introduced to the following article, which should be read by all independent home craftsmen.

Signs of a clogged gas water heater

The need to clean the Bosch gas flow heater is determined by the decrease in the performance of the device.

Cleaning is required if:

  • The water heater simply does not start;
  • It turns on, but does not work for long and turns off on its own, while there was no lack of water and gas;
  • The column heats up regularly, but the water heats up much worse than it was before;
  • The water pressure at the outlet of the heater is weaker than at the inlet to the heat exchanger;
  • Frequent activation of the overheating sensor, although the water heater is operating under medium load.

Clogged pilot jet. It is impossible or difficult to ignite the column if the pilot jet is clogged, due to which the device ignites the fuel with a delay. With characteristic cotton. A faint yellow wick flame, although it should be blue, is a sign of ignition contamination.

Soot in the chimney. If the burner ignites, but goes out almost immediately after ignition. The flue duct of the water heater is dirty. The chimney passability is significantly reduced due to deposits of soot and soot accumulated over the years of using the column. However, the chimney of columns in apartments is more often contaminated with volatile debris.

Preventive cleaning of a gas water heater must be carried out regularly at the recommended frequency. Every two years. Otherwise, the column will work worse, aimlessly consuming natural gas and water

Weak air flow. For natural draft, even a small gas water heater requires supply air. And modern dwellings are equipped with airtight window and interior door blocks.

To solve the problem of insufficient draft, ventilation valves built into window frames, wall inlets, as well as ventilation grilles in interior doors will allow.

Limescale in the heat exchanger. Insufficient heating of water in the gas flow heater causes a reduced flow area of the heat exchanger tube, caused by a layer of scale. And the more scale builds up, the lower the water pressure after heating in the column against the background of normal water pressure in the heating device.

Soot build-up of the heat exchanger. The largest amount of soot accumulates in the central part of the heat exchanger fins, transferring heat to running water and contributing to overheating of the side sections of the heat exchanger.

Uneven heating of the heat exchanger causes a quick response of the overheating sensor. Most often, contamination of the finning with soot develops together with the clogging of the chimney.

What contaminates the gas column Bosch?

The reasons for the contamination of the instantaneous water heater are associated with its functions and principle of operation:

  • Flowing water supply. The column heats the stream of water flowing through its heat exchanger, which brings with it mineral inclusions. As a result, clogging deposits settle on the walls of the heat exchanger and the pipes of the device and gradually increase.
  • Gas burner burning. In case of defective gas combustion (see Reasons below), carbon deposits and soot are formed. The latter clogs the fins of the heat exchanger and the chimney, further impairing the combustion of gas fuel and slowing down the heating of water.
  • Poor tap water quality. Due to the hardness of tap water during its heating, salts are released from the composition, which are deposited in the form of scale inside the pipes and the heat exchanger. The thicker the scale layer, the narrower the pipe lumen and the worse it passes water.

In addition to the salts of magnesium and calcium dissolved in water, it contains mechanical impurities from rusting pipes. They also participate in the gradual clogging of the pipe channel in the heat exchanger together with scale.

As for soot, its active formation is facilitated by increased pressure on the burners, weak chimney draft (low height, cracks, lack of thermal insulation, etc.), Lack of supply air (PVC windows are sealed, but there is no supply valve).

Soot deposits are also facilitated by the use of forced draft in a room with a working water heater (causes a lack of oxygen), dustiness of the room (dust enters the burner, due to which full combustion of gas does not occur).

Filters and magnetic traps, fine adjustment of the burner and air draft will slow down the process of column clogging, but will not completely eliminate it

Since the formation of scale is more intense when the water is heated above 60 ° C, some owners of German water heaters set a low burner heating temperature. However, as a result of this, there is a gradual overgrowing of the working cavities of the heat exchanger with a greenish coating from condensate.

As a result, flue gas discharge is impaired, which contributes to the accelerated formation of soot. A heat exchanger clogged with soot heats water very badly. Soot is a good heat insulator.

Cleaning the gas column heat exchanger Bosch

If, after removing the casing of the water heater and inspecting the heat exchanger, soot contamination is found, it will need to be dismantled and completely flushed. Cleans the smoked heat exchanger precisely by removing it from the gas column.

The heat exchanger will not look new after cleaning. The challenge is here. Eliminate the maximum amount of contamination from the inner plane of the shell and, especially, from the radiator grille

The first step is to close the shut-off taps of the water and gas supply to the heating column. If you intend to completely remove the device and dismantle the heat exchanger, put the column on the table (it will be more convenient this way). Disconnect the gas supply hose, water inlet and outlet, then remove the device from the mounts.

However, there is no need to remove the entire water heater; you can also remove the radiator of the heat exchange module at the place of installation of the device. Let’s consider this maintenance option in detail.

Dismantling the water heater heat exchanger

A necessary tool. Flat (minus), Phillips (plus) screwdrivers and pliers.

The pipes for supplying and removing water from the heat exchanger are fixed with brackets, which are easy to remove with a flat screwdriver and thin-lipped platypus pliers

Attention: with an outwardly large size, the heat exchanger is light inside and out. Handle it carefully when disassembling, otherwise remember the shell!

The procedure for removing the heat exchanger using the example of Bosch WR13-2B:

  • Closing the cold water shut-off valve on the supply to the water heaters;
  • Removing the column cover. Remove the adjusting knobs by pulling towards you, unscrew the two self-tapping screws on the sides at the bottom of the case, slide the lower part of the casing towards you, Lift and Remove from the upper hooks;
  • Pulling out the brackets securing the tube to the water distribution unit. Pry the bracket with a screwdriver, remove Platypus, move the handset to the right. Before removing the retaining clip Place a wide container under the drain of about a liter of water from the heat exchanger;
  • Removing the Terminals of the sensors from the heat exchange tank and the case. Located on the left side of the device, wires go to them;
  • Pulling out the brackets securing the water supply tube to the water in the heat exchanger (there is a case under it). The principle is the same. Pry off with a screwdriver, gently pull out with platypus pliers, then remove the tube completely;
  • Removing the protective screen in front of the ignition group by unscrewing the two self-tapping screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Then you need to remove the ignition group from the nest, remove it;
  • Pulling out the bracket from the connecting hose at the outlet from the heat exchange radiator (with a screwdriver and a platypus), disconnecting the hose. Do not forget to drain the water first by opening the tap on the sink;
  • Unscrewing two screws securing the main burner on the sides;
  • Unscrewing two screws fixing the gas manifold under the burner (located under it, in the center);
  • Removing the guide strip holding the heat exchanger from above. There are two side screws for a Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew and remove the bar.

It remains only to remove the heat exchanger with the burner. Place the palms of your hands under the burner on its sides and firmly, not without extra effort, press your thumbs down the shell of the heat exchange radiator. Lift them up, then slide out the top of the heat exchanger to myself and Pull both modules out.

How to remove and clean the igniter?

Evidence of contamination of the ignition tube: the igniter flame extinguishes spontaneously; a weak flame tip rises without displacement to the burner due to insufficient gas pressure (if the pressure of the main or gas cylinder has weakened, then the burner has nothing to do with it).

Cleaning the igniter will stabilize the ignition, prevent pops and the formation of soot on the heat exchanger grates

Please note: before you start cleaning a clogged Bosch gas column igniter, be sure to double-check. Is the gas valve on the appliance closed?!

Required tools: flat (minus) screwdriver or thin nose pliers with curved lips (platypuses). The ignition tube should be removed carefully, and not by pushing the heat exchanger jacket.

The procedure for dismantling the igniter of the water heater:

  • Top end. It is necessary to pull up the bracket holding the flared edge of the ignition tube at the end of the burner. Slightly unclench the bracket, then push up the pliers or pry with a screwdriver until it is completely removed;
  • Bottom end. It is necessary to squeeze the edges of the bracket securing the igniter;
  • Removing the igniter. Having released the ends of the tube, it remains to lift it up and remove it with a movement “to myself”.

To clean the cavity of the ignition tube, you will need a piece of NOT too stiff wire, on which a piece of lint-free cloth (for example, a microfiber cloth) is clamped. Stretching out homemade brush inside the tube, then lightly tap it and blow.

The igniter tube is made of aluminum and is easy to wrinkle. Therefore, cleaning, and especially tapping, must be done carefully, without undue stress.

It is also necessary to clean the tungsten spring on the underside of the tube. This will provide a quick ignition from the piezoelectric element. Finally, it is required to clean the carbon deposits from the nozzle at the lower connection point of the ignition tube and the electrode located in front of the upper outlet of the tube. They should be wiped with a microfiber or other lint-free cloth.

Installation in the igniter cleaning column is performed in the reverse order of dismantling. If cleaning is done effectively, the flame from the ignited ignition tube will be visible Almost will not.
