How to start a petrol trimmer without a starter

How to start a gasoline generator after idle or cold weather

A gasoline generator, which is used as a backup or main source of power supply, is not uncommon in a private household. The installation will always help out in the event of a power outage and ensure the operation of the power tool in the field. At the same time, unlike industrial options, the operation of a private generator is, as a rule, periodic. In this regard, a frequent problem arises. the generator, which has stood without work for a long time, will not start. Today on the Internet you can find a lot of ways. how to start a gasoline generator after a downtime, but not all of them work and, first of all, you need to figure out the reason.

No spark

To check if the spark plug gives a spark, you need to unscrew it, connect the high voltage wire and put it in such a way that the thread touches the block body (ground). Then we turn on the ignition and, watching the candle, pull the kick starter cord.

You can hold the candle with a wooden bar, but not with your hand. Otherwise, you can feel a non-lethal, but very unpleasant current discharge.

If there is a spark, then the reason is most likely a lack of compression. Most likely, the rocker in the timing is poorly locked, so the valves do not close completely. This will also be accompanied by a slight effort when starting (pulling the lace). With normal compression, the lace is pulled out rather tightly. It is better to solve such a problem in a service center. Although it occurs extremely rarely and mainly in generators of dubious origin.

If the candle does not sparkle, then there may be 3 reasons:

  • the candle has gone numb;
  • little oil in the crankcase;
  • breakage of the oil level sensor.
Since the oil level has already been checked, 2 probable causes remain. The easiest way to check is to replace the spark plug with a new one (of the appropriate brand) and repeat the spark experiment. Breakage of the oil level sensor is unlikely, but if there is no spark with a new spark plug, then you can disconnect the wire from the sensor and start again.

start, petrol, trimmer, starter

In the absence of a new candle, you can “bring back to life” the old one. Its contacts must be cleaned of carbon deposits with fine sandpaper and calcined over gas. In the field, you can ignite a candle in a tin can, pouring a tablespoon of gasoline over it and singing it.

You need to ignite the candle with burning gasoline away from the generator and cans of gasoline. Remember that while the candle has not cooled down, you do not need to pick it up.

Now we re-test the spark plug, screw it back in and start the generator.

Engine is jammed

This is a separate issue that can be encountered after downtime. The kick starter lanyard won’t stretch, but don’t despair, it’s the carburetor. Minor blockages can cause the needle of the float valve to not fully close the valve and the fuel cock to open during standstill. Thus, during the time the gasoline filled the cylinder. First you need to turn off the tap, then unscrew the candle and, pulling the cord, drain the gasoline from the cylinder through the candle hole. Then you will have to disassemble the carburetor, clean it, blow out the jets, assemble and install in place. In this case, the candle will be flooded, so in any case it will have to be ignited.

Checking the oil level

Modern gasoline generators have an oil level sensor in the crankcase. If there is not enough oil, the ignition will not turn on. The level is checked with a dipstick built into the lid on the crankcase. If the oil level is low, it must be topped up and started again. If the level is sufficient or if the engine does not start again after adding oil, continue the diagnosis.

Recommendations for shutting down the generator before downtime

  • Do not shut off the engine, just shut off the fuel supply and let it run out gasoline from the float chamber. As a result, the motor will stall by itself after a few minutes.
  • Close the throttle to the start position to prevent moisture from entering the carburetor chamber through the air filter.
  • If possible, drain the gasoline from the gas tank.

Low quality gasoline

This is almost the most common reason a generator engine won’t start. After idle time, a sludge forms in low-quality gasoline and water separates. This can lead to clogging of the filter or water in the working emulsion enters the cylinder and does not ignite.

Important. Do not use gasoline if it smells like acetone. Such fuel will corrode the carburetor gaskets.

To check, unscrew the screw on the carburetor and open the fuel cock. If the gasoline is dripping, then it is clean. It is only necessary to drain 10-15 ml of gasoline to remove condensate from the float chamber. If the gasoline does not drip, but only drips, then the blockage is most likely in the faucet filter. To clean the filter, it is necessary to drain the fuel from the tank and disassemble the tap. The filter is a round mesh. It must be cleaned and rinsed with gasoline. Then put everything back together, and start again.

To do this, close the throttle valve, open the fuel supply cock and let it stand for 1 minute. Then, at idle (without turning on the ignition), we pull the kick starter string a couple of times to pump the carburetor. Next, turn on the ignition and start the engine. Open the throttle immediately after starting. If this time the generator does not work, the candle probably does not give a spark.

Generator won’t start

You need to start checking from the simplest to the most complex, for example, by checking the presence of gasoline itself in the tank.

Training

Before starting the generator, you need to prepare it. Only the purchased device needs to be unpacked. Remove all packages. Be sure to check the case for mechanical damage that the device may receive during transportation. The transportation of new models of gasoline generators is carried out without the presence of oil in the system. And before turning on the unit, it is necessary to pour the required amount of lubricant into the corresponding compartment, otherwise the engine will not work.

Before each new start, it is imperative to check the oil level and top up if necessary. A dry environment for an engine can be fatal. If an extension cord is used to connect a gasoline generator, it must be completely unwound and the cross-sectional value of the rated load must be specified. According to the standard, it should be 3-core, with a cross-section of more than 2.5 sq. mm.

The preparation of a previously operated generator is carried out in a slightly different way. It is necessary to check whether the gas generator has a grounding. If the generator has been interrupted for more than a month, the remaining fuel fluid must be drained from the tank. If the device is in constant readiness mode, but rarely functions, it is necessary to change the fuel on a regular basis. But this does not mean that unrefined fuel should be replaced with new one. In case of its shortage, it is enough to refuel. It is strictly forbidden to add fuel fluid while the engine is running.

Particular attention must be paid to checking the oil in the generator system. A complete renewal of the lubricant must be carried out every 60-70 operating hours. It is important to remember that if an oil composition of mineral origin was used, then it is strictly forbidden to dilute it with a synthetic one. Inconsistency in the composition of the oils can lead to engine failure. Before starting, it is also necessary to check if there is a connection to the generator of other electrical devices.

Initially, a test run is performed using a starter. Then the motor is turned off, a re-start is done. Thanks to this approach to starting the device, the engine warms up gradually, respectively, you can increase the load on the generator. The main thing is to make sure that the total power consumption is not higher than the energy generated by the gas generator.

In principle, starting a gasoline generator is not so difficult, the main thing is to adhere to the generally accepted rules for operating this device.

  • Possible problems

Any modern technology requires a special attitude and adherence to the rules of operation. If at least one of them is violated, the device may fail in the near future. But it’s one thing when it comes to a coffee maker, which, in principle, is easy to take to a master for repair or to buy a new one, and a completely different thing is a gasoline generator. If you respect this technique, you will be able to avoid even the smallest breakdown.

When working with a gasoline generator, special attention should be paid to starting the device. Of course, according to the instructions, this process is not particularly difficult.

However, it is necessary to observe some nuances, thanks to which the generator will serve faithfully for more than a dozen years.

How to start in winter?

Surely everyone will agree that it is very unpleasant to be in a house where there is no electricity in winter in cold weather. And if you have a properly connected gasoline generator, such problems do not arise. However, the owners of such devices need to remember that there are several ways to start gasoline power plants in the winter.

To save the generator system from various damage during the cold season, the owner must drain the fuel fluid from the tank and lubricate the movable system components, especially when the next start-up will be made after a long time. But the most important thing is that a poorly working generator must be kept in rooms where the air temperature does not drop below 0 degrees.

How to start correctly?

It’s not a secret for anyone that the start of gasoline generators should be carried out in accordance with its design features. To date, 3 options for starting the generator system are being considered.

  • Manual start.
  • Electric start.
  • Automatic start.

How to Start an Engine Without A Starter – Video

Most models of gasoline generators of the budget series have low or medium operating power. The plant of such units is done manually according to the instructions. But even without the manufacturer’s recommendations, it is not difficult to launch such a system. It is enough to apply a little effort and pull on the handle on the cable. But it is worth remembering that the higher the power of the device, the more intensively the cable will have to be pulled. Further, it is proposed to get acquainted with the step-by-step instructions for manual start.

  • Check that the air damper is closed.
  • Pull the starter grip lightly.
  • If you feel resistance, you should increase the tension by applying a sharp jerk.
  • It is necessary to smoothly release the handle, but do not throw it.
  • If it was not possible to start the device the first time, you must repeat the steps presented.
  • If the start occurred without hesitation, it is necessary to give the started engine some time to warm up and open the choke.

An electric generator is much more convenient in terms of starting. No additional effort is required for his plant. Just turn the key or press the required button. In more expensive designs, there is a control panel that allows you to start a generator with an electric starter at a remote distance. Next, it is proposed to consider the step-by-step instructions for starting an electric generator.

  • If the device contains a rechargeable battery, it is necessary to check its presence and performance. If it fails, it should be replaced.
  • Make sure that the terminals connected to the battery are firmly fixed with the correct polarity.
  • Turn the key or press the button. If within 5 seconds after starting the engine does not come into operation, you must release the starter and try to restart it. After a long downtime, there is a high probability that there can be many repeated starts. The main thing is that each process should take no more than 5 seconds.

Still, the most convenient are generators with automatic start. They are controlled by means of a remote control, which allows you to control the working process of the device.

Possible problems

Unfortunately, gasoline generators can fail after long periods of inactivity. And not all users understand what the cause of a system malfunction may be. Accordingly, they leaf through the operating instructions in an attempt to find a solution to the problem. But the design of a gasoline generator is not so complicated, and you can find a malfunction without special knowledge. To begin with, you should consider the sequence of operation of the generator system. Free flow of fuel and the presence of a spark is required to start the engine.

To check the flow of fuel into the cylinder, it is necessary to unscrew the spark plug and inspect its electrodes. If they are dry, no fuel is supplied. Wet electrodes indicate the flow of gasoline. In some cases, it happens that the candles are flooded with fuel when the generator is factory. The spark seems to be there, but it is not possible to start the engine. This situation occurs after a long stagnation of the generator. To solve the problem, it is necessary to wipe the spark plug electrodes dry and screw it back in. Next, you need to check for a spark. To do this, you need to insert it into the mouthpiece and connect the external electrode to any metal element of the engine.

Only it is necessary to connect at a distant distance from the screwing point. Otherwise, the spark that appears may ignite from gasoline fumes from the cylinder. After the spark plug electrode is attached, you must pull the starter. If there is a spark, then everything is in order. If a spark does not appear, you will have to look for a solution to the problem on a more global scale, since the absence of a spark indicates wear on the candles or a malfunction of the generator’s electrical system. Further, it is proposed to familiarize yourself with several ways to fix problems in the absence of a generator plant.

  • In the presence of incoming fuel and a spark, it is necessary to wipe the spark plug and then tighten it. And start again according to the rules of the instruction.
  • If the candle turns out to be dry after unscrewing, you can make a technical injection. This will require a syringe of 1 or 2 cubes. Gasoline is pumped into it, which is subsequently poured into the cylinder. Then the candle is quickly twisted, a mouthpiece is put on it, and a plant is made. With this approach, the engine will start on the 1st or 2nd try. But with further work, it may stall. If, nevertheless, the generator stalls, you will have to contact the service center.
  • If suddenly there is no spark of the candle, and it was not possible to get it by replacing the mouthpiece, then the electrical system of the generator needs to be repaired. And only a specialist can fix the device.

Often, users, faced with a non-working generator system, begin to disassemble it and view the internal state. However, experts first of all recommend checking the oil level and the presence of fuel. In some cases, the generator stops working when the air filter is clogged. It is not so difficult to clean it with your own hands, and to establish its location, it is enough to look at the instruction manual.

A similar solution to the problem if the fuel filter becomes dirty. It also needs to be cleaned or replaced. If suddenly the generator engine does not start after the manipulations carried out, the problem is probably the contamination of the carburetor.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to clean it with your own hands. You need to contact a specialist.

In the next video, you will see how to properly start a gasoline generator.

How to start a trimmer or petrol cutter motor?

The new trimmer is easy to commission.

  • Check the motor type of the device. Trimmers are equipped with a 2- or 4-stroke motor.
  • Buy oil for this type of motor. Gasoline for trimmer. AI-92/93/98, sold at all gas stations.
  • Mix oil with gasoline. Mineral oil is mixed in a ratio of 1: 34 with gasoline, synthetics. in a 1: 50 ratio. Follow the trimmer manufacturer’s recommendations for oil viscosity (see the label on the flask). The most commonly used multigrade oil 5W-30. Do not use untested car oils.
  • Pour a small amount (for example, 0.5 liters) of the resulting fuel into the tank.
  • Close the air damper by sliding the desired lever (see instructions).
  • Turn the ignition key (or handle) to the “on” position. otherwise the trimmer will not start. Beginners often make this mistake.
  • Pump some fuel into the carburetor. if there is a manual “rocker” with a separate button or lever (see instructions). It takes 4-7 clicks.
  • Place the trimmer on a level surface.
  • Pull on the starter cord gently until you feel it slow down. Then pull it out sharply, but not completely. Repeat this movement up to 4 more times.
  • If the engine does not start, open the air damper again, otherwise the candles will flood with gasoline with further movements of the cord. Perform 2-3 attempts to start the engine with an open handbrake.
  • If the engine still does not start, close the choke and make a few more attempts to start it.
  • After starting the engine, press the throttle lever with idle.

Let the motor warm up. 5-10 minutes is enough. Do not start mowing immediately after a cold start. the trimmer motor should run in.

Prerequisites

The reason why the trimmer fails may be:

  • overflow of the tank;
  • excessive pumping of fuel into engines equipped with a manual supercharger;
  • wear in the motor of valves, cylinders, injectors, cam followers and other moving parts;
  • the tanks are out of gasoline and / or oil;
  • the spark plug is out of order;
  • clogged fuel or air filters;
  • the valves in the motor are out of alignment or burned.

The check begins with the presence of oil and fuel both in the tanks, and a small portion of it in the engine system. An “empty” engine will not start, despite a full tank, as well as an overfilled one.

Starting the brushcutter for the first time or after a long period of inactivity

A brushcutter differs from a trimmer in that it is not a fishing line that acts as a grass cutter, but a mechanical reducer or a gear-based winch equipped with a knife. The knife drive is much more powerful than the forestry mechanism. a powerful petrol cutter is also used when cutting bushes. Both Chinese and European petrol mowers are no different when the declared power is real.

To lubricate the gears of the reducer, lithol or grease is used. After checking the gearbox, prepare the motor itself for work. according to the above instructions. If the start fails, the problem is already in the engine.

How to start a petrol trimmer?

  • How to start a trimmer or petrol cutter motor?
  • Starting the brushcutter for the first time or after a long period of inactivity
  • Adding fuel through the spark plug holes
  • Checking the ignition system
  • Cleaning the engine
  • Checking the integrity of the spark arrester
  • Unstable carburetor operation
  • Draining fuel from the gas tank

How to properly start the trimmer is a question that the owners are puzzled with in the event of a device breakdown. And after a successful repair of the trimmer, the owner tries to avoid repeating the same situation.

Adding fuel through the spark plug holes

If the trimmer engine does not have manual pumping and the device does not start, add some fuel to the engine itself through the spark plugs. Do the following.

  • Check if the fuel level in the tank is sufficient to drain a small amount. It only takes 20 ml.
  • Remove the cap from the spark plug and unscrew it with a spark plug wrench.
  • If the spark plug is dirty on a used trimmer, rinse and ignite it. There should be no deposits on the spark plug electrodes. Do not damage the center conductor ceramic insulator. In a new trimmer, check the spark plugs for a factory defect.
  • Return the spark plug back and check the spark ignition (discharge between the electrodes) when the starter is triggered.
  • Remove the candle again. Using a 20 or 50 cc syringe, pour 20 ml of gasoline into the plug hole.
  • Insert and fix the spark plug, setting the value of its technological gap at least and no more than a millimeter.
  • Prime fuel using the priming button (or lever). if your trimmer model has one. Press the button every 4 seconds.

Now try to start the engine. Close the air damper immediately after starting.

Starting a warm engine

It’s very simple. Move the switch to the working position and pull the cord before starting. If you do everything according to the instructions, then there should be no problems with starting a serviceable petrol cutter.

Fuel mixture and refueling

For the convenience of preparing the fuel mixture, it is better to have a special canister. where one part contains gasoline and the other 2-stroke oil. We recommend getting one like this, it is very convenient to use https://ru-sad.ru/prinadlezhnosti-dlya-sadovoy-tehniki/dlya-benzopil/kanistryi/

Read more:  Electric Trimmers Rating

Next, take a measuring container with a scale applied to it, with its help you can prepare the mixture as accurately and quickly as possible. Look in the instructions what brand of gasoline and 2-stroke oil https://ru-sad.ru/prinadlezhnosti-dlya-sadovoy-tehniki/masla-i-smazki/ are recommended by the manufacturer of your petrol cutter model. Pour gasoline and oil into a container for preparing a fuel mixture, according to the proportions indicated in the instructions. Then carefully pour the prepared mixture through a funnel into the trimmer fuel tank. The ratio of gasoline and oil should be exactly as indicated in the instructions. This is a very important point.!

How to start a petrol trimmer

The process of commissioning petrol brushes, whether you bought it now or got it after winter storage, the rules listed below will allow you to avoid basic mistakes that can damage the tool.

Let’s say you just bought a petrol trimmer. Take the instructions out of the box and see if you have all the parts of the brushcutter that are listed. After that you can start building.

Starting petrol cutters with cold engine

To start the brushcutter for the first time, locate the choke lever and place it in the closed position. Turn on the ignition on the handle. If your model has a manual fuel pump, popularly called suction, then press it 3-5 times until you see the fuel mixture inside the primer. The tool is now ready to run. Lay the trimmer on a flat surface to ensure a stable position. Smoothly pull the starter rope until you feel its resistance, and then pull the rope towards you with a sharp movement 3-5 times.

If the engine starts after 5 jerks, open the choke. If this does not happen, open the air damper anyway (if the damper is open and you continue trying to start the engine, the fuel will flood the spark plug and have to dry it, and this is a waste of time).

If the engine does not start when the throttle is open, then close it and continue pulling the cord. The first launch can be quite difficult and require up to 15 jerks. After the engine has started to work, press the throttle lever once, so you engage idle speed. Now let the engine run and warm up. After that, it can be stopped by clicking on the “Stop” button.

Basic startup errors

Let’s list the main mistakes that beginners make when starting a gasoline trimmer:

  • starting the engine with the ignition off;
  • starting with a closed damper with the number of jerks more than 5 times;
  • improperly formulated fuel mixture.

No spark

To check if the spark plug gives a spark, you need to unscrew it, connect the high voltage wire and put it in such a way that the thread touches the block body (ground). Then we turn on the ignition and, watching the candle, pull the kick starter cord.

  • the candle has gone numb;
  • little oil in the crankcase;

In the absence of a new candle, you can “bring back to life” the old one. Its contacts must be cleaned of carbon deposits with fine sandpaper and calcined over gas. In the field, you can ignite a candle in a tin can, pouring a tablespoon of gasoline over it and singing it.

Now we re-test the spark plug, screw it back in and start the generator.

Functions of gasoline generators

When buying a suitable device, its additional technical characteristics are also taken into account. Functions that make working with the equipment comfortable:

  • Cooling system. During operation, gasoline generators with auto start and manual ones often overheat. Due to the high temperature, some parts of the mechanism fail. The generators have 2 types of cooling: air and water. The first ones are based on different methods of blowing the equipment. Liquid Cooled Models Suitable for Industrial Generators.
  • Voltage regulators. Not all models of gasoline generators are equipped with this function. The unit is designed to equalize voltage drops in the main network. The most effective in terms of stabilizing the parameter are inverter devices.
  • The degree of protection against external factors. In different models, this level varies from 0 to 5 points. 5 is the highest protection rating for the installation. Such a gasoline generator for a gas boiler can be used even in the most difficult weather conditions. Installations with a protection index of 2-3 points are suitable for domestic needs.

How to choose a gasoline generator?

A suitable model is bought so that its power is sufficient to ensure uninterrupted supply of all power sources. This parameter is calculated using a simple algorithm:

  • Reveal the total power consumption of all sources.
  • Add to the resulting value 30% of the available amount.
  • Add both indicators.
  • If there are sources in the house that increase the load on the network (pumps and electric motors), then not 30, but 50% of the resulting number is added to the total power of the devices.

Another indicator that is taken into account when choosing a gasoline generator is low noise. Optimal household models should create a sound pressure in the range of 40 to 100 dB. Installations with a high level of noise are used in industrial conditions and special insulators are created for them. If the operation of a gasoline generator in an open space is meant, then a model with a high sound pressure can be selected.

Another important parameter of the device is its dimensions. As a rule, miniature models are not very powerful. Their size does not exceed 1 × 0.5 × 0.5 m. The most powerful models occupy a space of 5 × 2 × 2 m. When buying a generator, the frequency of its operation is also taken into account. Manual models are selected if the unit is turned on from time to time. Automatic models. ideal backup power in case of frequent failures in the main.

Generator won’t start

You need to start checking from the simplest to the most complex, for example, by checking the presence of gasoline itself in the tank.

The generator does not start in frost

Here, the most probable reasons may be two. non-frost-resistant oil or, again, low-quality gasoline. In order not to “break” your head how to start a gasoline generator in such conditions, it is better to take care of this in advance and change the oil for the winter. 5W30, 0W30 or any other winter oil recommended by the generator manufacturer will do.

If this is not done in time, then sooner or later the question will arise. how to start a gasoline generator in frost? There are many solutions, but they all boil down to one thing. to warm up the generator. You cannot do this with an open fire, the easiest way is to bring it into a warm room for 1.5-2 hours.

After that, the generator should start, unless there are other reasons not related to frost. It is better to change the oil after work, then it will be warm, liquid and it will be easier to drain it.

The best advice would be the recommendation to buy generators from branded manufacturers and fill them only with high-quality gasoline, then problems will definitely not arise.

What should be done before starting the gas generator?

First of all, by starting the gas generator
, remember about safety precautions. Do not smoke near the unit and do not start work if, when refueling, you get on the unit with gasoline, etc. The gasoline generator can only be started in a well-ventilated area. During long-term operation, any unit heats up, and to avoid burns, do not touch hot parts.

You should check the grounding of the gas generator before starting it. Make sure there is enough fuel in the tank, if not, top up. When the engine is running, this is strictly prohibited.

If you do not use the equipment for a long time, it is necessary to drain the fuel from the tank, clean the body of the unit and lubricate the main working units. When resuming operation, replace the fuel in the tank. Also clean the spark plug, carburetor and fuel cock, remove grease from the body.

The engine oil level must be constantly monitored. By early detection of its decrease, you can prevent rapid wear and premature engine failure. It is recommended to change the oil every 50-70 hours of operation. You should not mix synthetic and mineral grades, this will have a bad effect on the internal state of the motor parts.

After making the first start, turn off the engine after a few seconds and only then restart the gas generator. The motor must be allowed to warm up, only then can the load on the apparatus itself be gradually increased. Pay attention to the power consumption to avoid damage. It should not exceed the generated.

Before starting the device, make sure that no electrical consumers are connected to it.

If you experience any malfunctions in the work, we recommend that you immediately contact the specialists who specialize in this profile.

A gasoline generator is a device that is capable of generating electrical energy obtained as a result of the process of converting it from mechanical energy.

By their application, these units are a reliable source of backup power, both for private residential buildings and for industrial buildings of any accessory and industry.

Objects such as construction sites, vital hospital departments, banking institutions, boiler houses and of course private cottages are currently equipped with gasoline generators in accordance with project documentation, based on the category of power supply of these facilities.

And just among the population of rural areas, where power outages are common, these units have become widely used in their households.

Before buying a gasoline power plant, many people are in a stupor, do not know how to correctly approach the issue of the choice itself and what to pay attention to. And therefore, when choosing a gasoline generator, you need to learn simple rules

Rule 1.
When buying such a power plant, it is necessary to take into account its manufacturer and quality, and not just the price. Here it is necessary to use folk wisdom. “Cheap fish and bad yushka”.

Rule 2.
Many sellers of such equipment are confidently convinced of the profitability of buying a 3-phase power plant. In a way they are right.

But you should not rush, but stop and think about whether there is a need for such an acquisition if there are no 3-phase consumers. Undoubtedly, such gasoline generators are better, but only where electrical devices operate, which are powered by a 3-phase network.

Rule 3.
Power selection is the most important purchase step. But in the calculations of the ratios of the load powers and the gasoline generator there is nothing complicated.

If the load is electric lighting, TV, computer, then the power of the power plant should be equal to the total power of these electrical appliances. And in the presence of such loads as electric motors, then in this case it is worth taking into account the reactive component of the power of these devices.

As an example, let’s take an electric drill with a power of 500W. When choosing a gasoline generator for the operation of such a tool, you need to take into account its cosϕ, which is indicated in the passport.

As a result, we have. 500: 0.8 = 625W power is required for the operation of this drill. But the power plant itself also has its own cosϕ, which is indicated in its passport.

And therefore it turns out. 625: 0.8 = 781W, and this number is the final value of the power of the gasoline generator for the operation of an electric drill.

Low quality gasoline

This is almost the most common reason a generator engine won’t start. After idle time, a sludge forms in low-quality gasoline and water separates. This can lead to clogging of the filter or water in the working emulsion enters the cylinder and does not ignite.

After installing the spring, tighten it. To do this, perform the following actions:

  • remove the handle from the starter cord;
  • then the rope is inserted into the reel groove;
  • tension the spring by rotating the coil in the opposite direction to the clockwise direction (winding);
  • make the required number of revolutions specified in the operating instructions for the used trimmer model and corresponding to the length of the cord used;
  • at the very end, the rope is threaded into the hole intended for this, located in the starter cover;
  • put the handle in place, fixing it with a knot.

If, after repair, the spring continues to fly off, then you can get rid of it in the following ways:

  • squeeze a piece of the plate suitable in size into the groove at the location of the spring hook;
  • drill holes on both sides of the groove in the spool, into which to insert the spring hook and fix it with a wire.

How to repair a trimmer starter

Petrol trimmer starter repair may be required at the most inopportune moment. In this case, the problem can be solved in two ways: replace the broken part or change the entire unit. The latter option will cost more. To repair the device with your own hands, in most cases, you only need a screwdriver with the appropriate tip from the tools. Repair work will not take much time and do not require any special knowledge. It is enough to know the device, the principle of operation, the nuances of assembling and disassembling the starter on the trimmer in order to achieve the desired positive result.

Starter assembly

The assembly of the starter unit is carried out in a number of stages:

  • the coil is turned over, setting it so that the spring bend fits exactly into the groove of the body, as in the photo below;
  • two washers are laid, between which a spring is placed;
  • put in place the cup with the antennae;
  • tighten the screw (photos below).

When doing the described manipulations, it is imperative to put two washers. If this is not done, then the spring will damage the plastic cup over time, and when it is pulled up, wedging will begin. Because of this, there is a feeling as if the spring has flown off. To eliminate this drawback, you need to install this part of a greater length or an additional washer.

When such parts are not available, you can simply unscrew the screw a little, and the starter unit will start working without wedging. But this option is temporary. it is better to repair it with high quality as soon as possible.

The device and principle of operation of the starter on the trimmer

The gasoline engine is, in principle, the main part of the brushcutter. Its power lies in the range of 0.5-2.5 hp. The movement from it is transmitted to the shaft, which is inside the hollow rod, and then through a gearbox consisting of gears, already a fishing line or knife (working body).

The petrol brush also has the following elements:

  • protective casing;
  • lever;
  • belt designed for the convenience of using the device;
  • starter used to start a gasoline internal combustion engine.

All details of brushcutters are presented in the photo below.

The trimmer starter is an integral part that starts the engine. He is shown separately in the two photos below.

The starter mechanisms of various models of petrol brushes work on the same principle: during the start of the internal combustion engine, the protrusions marked in the photo above with the number 1, engage with the pawls 3. When the engine starts to work, they return to their previous position due to the influence of centrifugal force. A similar role is also played by wires 2.

The process of returning to the initial position of the elements of the mechanism occurs due to the presence of a spring wound around the axis. It unfolds when the rope is pulled. After releasing the cord, it is pulled in and wound up due to the coiling of the spring. During the start of the internal combustion engine, the petrol mowers, the starting mechanism turns its shaft until it starts to work (starts).

Today, gasoline brushcutters are equipped with two types of starter mechanisms:

  • manual;
  • electric.

The first option is much more common.

The trimmer starter can operate without breakdowns for a long time. It is impossible to clearly indicate the period of uptime. Everything is determined by the initial quality of the device and the observance of the rules for handling it.

Removal and disassembly of the starter, replacement of broken parts

To repair the trimmer starter, you will first need to disassemble it, and then assemble it. This process is not particularly difficult. For work, you need a screwdriver with a tip of the desired shape.

Everything should be done carefully, observing safety precautions, mainly so that the spring does not injure the master in case of an accidental departure.

The main malfunctions of the trimmer starter

It is not difficult to determine the cause of the breakdown of the triggering device. There are several main options:

  • break of the cord (rope);
  • when the spring breaks or disengages.

The above details are shown in the photo below.

It may happen that the starter mechanism is accidentally broken. The consequences will be disastrous if the broken rope is wound around the flywheel of a working internal combustion engine: then the spring will burst, the pulley will break. But such cases, when a complete replacement of the starter unit is required, are extremely rare. In most cases, to fix the mechanism, it is enough to install a new spring or replace the cord.

Disassembly of the starter unit

The launch mechanism is disassembled in order to install new parts instead of broken ones in the following sequence:

  • unscrew with a screwdriver the screw fixing the pulley with the starter cover;
  • take out the spring and antennae;
  • carefully remove the pulley (you need to turn your head away or work, wearing glasses and gloves first);
  • determine why the trigger is broken;
  • if the spring has collapsed almost completely, then it is replaced;
  • when the spring comes out of the hook, it is installed in its original place, bending the antennae before this (the photographs show the laying process);
  • after the spring plate is installed inside the groove, carefully twist it.

To change the spring, you must work carefully and carefully: it can accidentally burst under the influence of the force caused by installing it in place. Even if you carefully remove the roller, the spring strip very quickly flies off the reel and can injure your hand with its sharp edges.

It is not always possible to immediately put the spring plate in its original place. It often slips, so attempts must be repeated until the desired result is achieved.

Replacing a torn cord

The torn rope is replaced in the following sequence:

  • the old cord is removed;
  • choose a rope that is suitable in size (thickness and length);
  • passing it through a special hole in the coil, tie a knot;
  • cocking the spring, producing the required number of revolutions;
  • fix the handle.

It is better to stretch the spring plate together with a partner so that the edge of the cord does not rewind inside the starter mechanism.

How to Start an Engine Without a Pull Start/Cord

Assembling the starter on the trimmer and winding the spring is not difficult, you just need to do it carefully and with care. For different models of petrol cutters, the breakdowns of the triggering mechanisms are the same, so they are repaired in the same way. At the same time, there are some nuances associated with their design features.
