Pros: Low weight, compact size
Cons: Rotor burned out after a year of infrequent use. Heavy and dusty work the angle grinder has not seen. Weak motor, only for light low-viscosity materials and short work.
Review: Disappointed with the company completely. Large 230mm angle grinder has been rattling the bearings almost since new, but it works, and the small one burned out after a year. Repair made no sense, the spare part costs as much as half of a new angle grinder. 115 disk neither here nor there. 125 more universal solution. Switched to DeWALT tools.

Pros: Fits comfortably in the hand. 840 watts. brand ?
Cons: one year warranty. worked (not often used) a year and 20 days.
Review: do not advise to take who is engaged in finishing. wasted money. Anchor burned out. Disappointed with the company (it was one of my favorites)

Pros: Low price for such a well-known brand
Cons: Burned out in the first 15 minutes of operation
Review: I decided to buy an angle grinder for home use, a small size. Since I often encounter them at work, the choice was either Bosch or Makita. In principle, these brands break down, but in my experience was the most durable compared to other manufacturers. I decided to take a famous chain store this model on the stock for 3199 Assembly Romania (I do not know whether to rejoice or be disappointed compared to China). Checked in front of me, it works, especially no noise. After reading the prior reviews, which write that there is not enough lubricant in the gearbox, I decided to check, unscrewing the 4 screws. The grease, even on the idle machine was smeared with a thin layer of yellow on the walls, the gears themselves can be said to be dry. Probably the Romanians were reckoning that the grease would flow to the right place when heated. I filled the gearbox with lubricant MS1000, reassembled the machine. Worked a little quieter. On arrival in the garden began cutting a sheet of 3 mm thin circles 2.5 mm. Rpm practically does not fall, the machine pulls, it pleases. I let it cool for 2-3 minutes a couple of times. Noticed a peculiarity that heats mostly not the gearbox, as is usually the case, but the body of the machine itself, near the button. As a result, stopped the machine, gave it a rest. I turned it on again, and it worked like a two-stroke engine, as if small explosive packets were exploding inside, and it would not pick up speed. Decided to return under warranty as not even 14 days have passed from purchase. I took the claim together with the machine, and now for the expertise. Will wait for answer. Decided for myself that the Makita is not what it used to be. Now I am not sure what to buy. P.S. The machine was repaired under warranty without questions, said the armature burned out. Will continue to operate. But the Makita’s reputation is ruined for me.

Pros: Low weight, compact size
Cons: The rotor burned out after a year of sparse use. The grinder didn’t see heavy and dusty work. Weak motor, only for light, low-viscosity materials and short work.
Review: Disappointed with the company. The big 230 mm angle grinder has been rattling its bearings almost since new, but it works, and the small one burned out after a year. Repair made no sense, the part costs as much as half of a new angle grinder. The 115 disk is neither here nor there. 125 a more versatile solution. I switched to DeWALT tool. Still changed the rotor burned out and continue to use the tool. Try not to use for metals thicker than 2 mm. I bought the rotor on Aliexpress. It is cheaper than the original and will hopefully last longer.

Pros: light and fast
Cons: price
Review: I bought a new one. Was doing strokes in the concrete. burned out after a meter shtroba, although there is still the same but 2008 dosihpor zhivoy. they do not make them with good quality nowadays

– 2. Zelenov Alexey

Pros: Convenient, lightweight, powerful enough.
Cons: Failed. Also, the power button is uncomfortable, sometimes difficult to turn on. The ventilation outlet is awkwardly located, you can block it with your hand inadvertently.
Review: Alas, reliability is not happy. Personally, it was enough for me for 5 minutes. Truth is not new, clogged with lime and putty dust. Praised motor guard apparently cracked and jammed the rotor. The protector consists of some kind of varnish on the stator and rotor. The lacquer cracked, the machine jammed, overheated. Disassembled partially, shook out the splinters of varnish, began to rotate, but now punctures. Conclusion: Not suitable for dusty conditions, although it is positioned for this. For the rest. good variant. but a bit expensive.

Fake screwdrivers, drills, peoratorov, angle grinder, saws with avito 4.

On Avito sells a lot of fake tools. Copies from China, very similar to the original tool and terrible quality, and yet they give away the little things that are immediately visible.

The feeling is that no fake Makita now can not find or the price will be 2-3 times higher than the non-original. Going around 4 shops and sellers crumpled when asked about the manufacturer and the lathes were all “traces” of Chinese. Took because of the lack of choice with a wheel 180mm. GA 7010. the hell with it, as long as it lasts!

You have to take it apart and see what’s inside. Even if a copy, it may be no worse and you can not bother with it

Hi Igor! After this video took apart my 9554HN 115mm disc (made in China), it has not a red cable clamp and black, cable is thin and stiff, softens in cold, but plug is a copy of dr my Makita. The year of manufacture is not written on the plate but the plate is metallic. The protective cover is like yours which is small, everything else seems to match the original. Didn’t buy it from.dealer. What do you think is a fake?

All according to the article. I would like to add only that all angle grinders Makita marked with the letter R. Profilers and screwdrivers are practically all Y letters. Since layout has its own plant in China since 1994, more or less all the tools are made in China. Certainly there is a set in Romanian, English and Japanese. But now the tool is more or less all made in China,Bosch,Hilti or DeWALT or Milwaukee. Good look. I myself have such a layout, as well as most of the electric tools of the layout.

MAN’S CHANNEL. All about everything

Fucking hell. ts just bought and rushed to disassemble it. The whole look is bullshit. Only an autopsy shows whether it’s a fake or not, and from the outside you’ll get the hell out of it. Just do not buy on any crap tool. Go to the site Makita select your region and see the off dealer that’s when you came to let’s say a shack and asked who delivers you the tool tell me pliz. The seller is your off-dealer. You and what can be the name of the address and t.д. He’s bringing you Vasya Pupkin and the villages of Tajikistan. You look at the list of dealers on the site and there really is Vasya Pupkin with the same address. Then you ask the seller. Do you have documents confirming your words? he’s on here look. You look and check again with the dealer’s, so they match. Everything fits, and you give it to him. And you have the original Makita warranty card? You look at this. You check the warranty number on the Of site and if such a number exists, then only now you can buy and be sure that this is not a dud. Only if you’re not buying from an authorized dealer. you just need an extra mediator who wants to eat too.

Let’s hope that the situation will become more interesting someday. for the consumer)) It seems to be changing as it is. Slowly. over a year ago I took a saw 680yu from the states, less than 5grn has cost, now it is officially about a stock and stoit, and a year ago was more than 9.5 grn.

Walnut pro tool 1

And the patronage of the Japanese for Makita can be abandoned only by abandoning Makita )))) In any case, if we’re talking about the original, the legs that grow from them. And the dealer, in a country where there is no representation still takes them, just in another country.

Gretzky about Tool 1

@Ok Game On the reviews we have even less zarobotka, especially on tool reviews, and not the themes of broad, mass consumption. Since YouTube in an autonomous activity can be allocated if we are talking about more than 10 thousand subscribers (probably closer to hundreds). And about re-buying Makita, in the market and so there is a part of the gray, though from Russia is not an option. Used to come from Turkey, probably through the Western Ukraine from Europe. Who doesn’t need a warranty for private use, probably buy. Just from what I see, the turnover of Makita and a similar class of brands in Ukraine now remained mostly in cashless with VAT, and in this case we go back to the official Makita.

Ok Game 2

@Gretsky pro tool Maybe then give up the “patronage” of the Japanese and buy from a dealer. what supplies russia?)) It makes more sense. the price will go down. sales will increase. Profits will go up due to increased volume. As it seems to me on Devolt/Makita interesting only to do reviews, the profits from them probably negligible. Compared to a “no-name”. I want a lawn mower. But the damn price tag on it now unaffordable (for me)))

Testimonial: Makita 9557 HN angle grinder. It’s a good angle grinder

Hello. I want to tell you about Makita 9557HN angle grinder. This angle grinder for 115 mm discs. Why did I buy it? It’s simple. We had this angle grinder in the store and 9558HN, it is on 125. They are exactly the same, the only difference is the housing, 9557 was 1500 cheaper:). I found a friend’s old Makita 125 hood and I got a 9558HN. True, there was still a difference. The angle grinder 9558 was made in China and 9557 was made in Romania. I don’t know which assembly is better, but I would have preferred the Chinese one.

What can I say? The tool is great. Works quietly. The sound is nice, whirring. There is little vibration, without a disk there is none at all. The motor is almost not warm. Well, the gearbox itself is warm as any angle grinder. The button is convenient, works without problems.

Of the picks. At this angle grinder, as well as at other budget Makita, a handle rigid. If you replace it with a rubberized or anti-vibration button, it would work much better.

In general, all is well, but personally I do not have enough power. No, the angle grinder copes, but I always have the feeling that it is heavy and not enough power a little bit, the speed still sags. Well, this is my personal experience, maybe I’m wrong.

The tool is good, I certainly recommend to buy. Thanks for the review!

Reviews from other Makita GA 5030 owners.

It is hard to find someone who regrets purchasing this tool.

The only criticism, which is often found. the power button.

With a lack of skill, the first starts do cause difficulty. There are two reasons for this:

  • The first one is connected with a peculiarity of the starting mechanism. Over time, the right skill is developed and the problem goes away.
  • The second reason is the gradual accumulation of dust in the mechanism. Not only turning it on is difficult. Button knocks out during operation. A simple cleaning restores the previous function.

The button is turned on like this:

There are separate reports of the GA 5030 breaking down suspiciously quickly (after a week or a year). But this is most likely a case of fake. In China, in addition to the two plants producing certified Makita products, there are probably assembly plants of similar models (maybe even from the original parts). Partnering with an authorized dealer avoids this type of situation.

In both photos, you can see that the clamp wrench is screwed to the power cord. This little trick is a great time saver for changing the blade. I often have to cut metal and ceramic alternately. Guarantee that the key is never lost.

2.After use, it is better to remove the cutting wheel from the shaft and store it separately. It often breaks when worn (especially when transporting the tool). Cracked disc could go unnoticed. This kind of wheel breaks into pieces on startup.

P.S.

The Makita GA 5030 grinder (mentioned above) lasted 5 years before its first breakdown. After exactly five years (26.01. 2016) the end bearing is loose. This is the most common breakdown with this Makita model. You can consider this coincidence of dates, a mystery. But the warranty card says exactly this life of the tool. 5 years.

The grinder has served its purpose fairly. The brushes could be a guide to how intensively the tool was loaded. Their wear and tear by that time was 2/3. On the warranty card, all tear-off slips remain intact.

That is, it can be assumed that the resource of each part is designed for 5 years. In theory, now comes the time for breakdowns. Everything must fall apart (further down the line).

Below is a video showing a similar repair with bearing replacement. From the video made the conclusion that it was necessary, during repair, to replace the top bearing (master suggested). Although he was intact and without backlash.

Repair with replacement of one bearing and brushes cost less than 10. Flight continues.

If you wanted, the bearing could be ordered (as with any part of all Makita tools) at http://Makita-profi.ru/parts/makita_ga5030/

But the minimum order amount is 1000 and is only possible by bank transfer.

After delving into the intricacies of determining the serial number of the place of manufacture, I learned where both of my Makita angle grinder.

Makita tool assembly number designation.

Makita has 10 factories, 2 of which are in China. If we compare the markings on the two tools, the first one is made in Romania, while the second one is made in China. This deciphering is also present on the blanks:

The first tool is made in China. The second one in Romania.

Review: Makita 9558HN angle grinder. 9558HNK. optimal characteristics for domestic use

Before buying an angle grinder, as, however, before any purchase, you need to decide for what purpose you are buying it, and what, in fact, you want to get from it. The point is that there are no “omnivorous” tools, each is designed for a specific niche of application, which means that the unique strengths of the tool can instantly turn into annoying weaknesses. you should only try to use it under improper conditions. For example, a tool designed for professional work (and this is usually a large volume of work, high productivity, power). it is likely to be expensive, heavy, noisy and power-hungry. On the contrary: when buying a compact household tool, you should clearly understand that low weight is the price to pay for low reliability, insufficient power, or, for example, long “rest” intervals (cooling down, charging, cleaning, etc.). д.)

Makita 9558HNK angle grinder. from my point of view. The unit is perfectly balanced in its consumer qualities for the DIYer: moderately powerful, not too heavy, not too bulky, unpretentious and incredibly reliable. With light cutting it is possible to work with one hand. A year and a half of use has brought out the following advantages: The power of 840 watts makes this machine practically an omnivorous tool for works in the country, the garage and at home. A less powerful unit would “get stuck” in half of the cases, and a more powerful one. would be heavy, and why overpay?? You should also keep in mind that a powerful tool. Problematic when working in hard-to-reach places because of its size: for example, when cleaning or sanding in corners. The same angle grinder. can easily handle any imaginable rebar, rod, metal barrels, ropes, bolts, cutting steel pipes up to 3/4″, angles, channels and other construction materials, and still fits into quite awkward places. In my practice, it was limited only by the diameter of the wheel (125 mm). т. е. not everything can be cut with one pass because of disc geometry: for example, a square tube 8080 had to be cut bypassing the perimeter, because the disc radius (62 mm minus spindle diameter) is not enough for complete immersion. Of course, I didn’t try to cut rails with it, but is it necessary for an amateur?

Taking into account that a master-amateur grinder is not necessary for the grinder every day, I consider one of its advantages to be a convenient toolbox (metal), which this model is equipped with: worked and put away until the next season together with a key for mounting disks, disks, glasses and other devices, which would have been inevitably razrabatyrovannyh throughout the apartment in the absence of the box.

The disadvantages: The developers have overdone with security features. Probably out of fear that the angle grinder could start by itself if the careless owner, they used a kind of slider instead of a start button: in order to start the machine, you have to move the clumsy and unyielding slider forward. I do not think it is a good solution: if you have to cut a lot without stop, this approach is acceptable (you switch it on, fix it and cut), but if you often need to make short cuts (e.g. you often have to change something or move it in a vice) the jerking of the slider is annoying. Also, for people with a small palm. A grip around the thick body can seem uncomfortable. However, if you work with two hands (the angle grinder has a detachable and solid handle) it is not a problem.

To sum up: I recommend to hold the angle grinder in hands before buying it, to try it on. If your right hand grip and thumb movement is not a problem for your physical development. then this tool is for you. Take it, you will not regret: in terms of power, dimensions, weight, diameter of discs, reliability, easy storage and transportation. 9558HNK is optimal for housing, but all “smarts” are for naive geeks, like soft start or speed regulation and stabilization. completely unnecessary

Instructions for use

The main rule when operating an angle grinder with a homemade speed regulator is to observe the mode of operation and rest. The reason is that a motor that is running at an “adjusted” voltage is particularly hot. When grinding at lower speeds, it is important to take frequent breaks so that the collector windings do not burn out.

Also, it is highly recommended not to turn on the tool, if the speed controller is set to minimum. reduced voltage is not enough to spin the rotor, the lamellae of the collector will remain in the short circuit mode, the windings will begin to overheat. Unscrew the variable resistor to maximum, then turn on the angle grinder and reduce the RPM to the desired value.

Observance of the correct order of switching on and adjustment will allow you to operate the angle grinder indefinitely for a long time.

In addition, it should be understood that the adjustment of the speed of rotation on the angle grinder is carried out on the principle of the water tap. The device does not increase the speed, it can only decrease it. It follows that if the maximum rated speed is 3000 rpm, the angle grinder will operate in a range lower than the maximum speed when the speed regulator is connected.

Warning! If the angle grinder already contains electronic circuits, for example, is already equipped with a speed regulator, then the thyristor controller will not work. The internal circuits of the appliance simply will not turn on.

Fakes, how to tell the difference

Note. If you choose a brand name Makita 9555HN guided by the lowest price, there is a high probability that you buy a fake and not the original.

In the market sales of tools: in online stores, retail outlets there are two manufacturers. Romania and Japan. Neither of the marks gives a hundred percent guarantee that you have the original. Consider in detail, by what parameters you can distinguish a fake from the original.

makita, 9558hn, angle, grinder, tell, fake
  • The packaging of the original is matte, but the fake brand packaging glossy.
  • Wire. Open the packaging, take out the tool and check the wire to the touch: the original has a soft wire, but the fake “oaky”.
  • Side handle. The hand tool comes with an extra side handle. On the fakes you will see the Makita inscription, which the original does not have.
