Why the chain saw starts and then shuts down?

Frequent malfunctions of the Husqvarna 236-240 chain saw

If the engine cannot be started, take the following steps in sequence:

Location of air filter and spark plug.

  • Check that there is gasoline in the tank.
  • Change the fuel if it has been stored for more than a month.
  • Check the fuel filter. Disconnect the hose from the carburetor and watch the trickle flow. If gasoline is flowing freely, fuel filter is not clogged. Clean the hole in the tank cap or the filter if the flow rate is insufficient.
  • Clean Air Filter. The air filter can be removed for a test run.
  • Inspect and clean the muffler from cinders.
  • Check that the ignition device is working. If necessary repair the starter (replace the pulley, spring or cable).
  • Disassemble and clean the clogged carburetor.
  • Use a tester to test the high-voltage wire for a breakage.
  • Measure the gap between the flywheel magnets and the ignition module (should be 0.2 mm).
  • Unscrew the spark plug and inspect it. Measure gap between electrodes with feeler gauge (normal 0.5-0.6 mm). By the appearance of electrodes determine the nature of the fault. If the spark plug is dry, there is no mixture. The working part, flooded with gasoline, indicates a low-quality adjustment of the carburetor or the lack of spark. To check for spark, connect the high-voltage plug to the spark plug, place the skirt on the cylinder radiator and pull the starter cord. If there is no discharge between the electrodes you need to replace the spark plug. Carbon deposits on the electrodes indicate poor fuel mixture. Clean central and side electrodes with sandpaper.
  • No compression. The reason. failure of the piston group. Measure compression. First unscrew the spark plug. Then insert a pressure gauge into the cylinder bore and use the starter cord to move the piston. The condition of the cylinder and piston groups can be judged by the pressure in the cylinder. It should be at least 8 atm. Low reading due to wear of the cylinder, piston, piston rings.

Why does the chain saw stall?

If the chainsaw starts and stops, there are various possible causes. An external inspection should be performed before attempting to repair the tool.

If the cutter stalls, check for a mix of oil and gasoline in the tank. If fuel mixture runs out the machine will not work. In situations where there is still gasoline left, it is important to evaluate the quality of the work before the machine shuts down. The occurrence of unusual noises and the subsequent abrupt stop should alert.

The formation of soot on the electrodes can also cause difficulties in the operation of the tool. Visually inspect the unit and clean if necessary.

Pressing on the gas

If your chainsaw stops when you accelerate, check the muffler and fuel filter. A possible cause is a leak in the fuel hoses. In some cases, adding more rpm helps.

Sometimes checking all the parts doesn’t help, the tool suffocates, stalls when you add gas. If the appliance stalls when you press the gas, the fuel supply may be insufficient for normal operation. It is caused by a clogged carburettor or filter.

The malfunction can also be caused by dust clogging the air filter. When you step on the gas, the unit stops working. Do not troubleshoot the problem yourself, because each model has individual characteristics.

Insufficient or no lubrication on the chainsaw chain can cause a problem. If the chain is dry, you need to clean the channels that carry oil to the guide bar. If the oil leaks, there are cracks, defects on the pipes, you need to treat them with sealant.

Under load

In situations where the unit stalls on load, the problem may be with the gas tank or filters. Check fuel quality and change filter.

Often the chainsaw will not start because the fuel in the fuel tank has a low octane rating. The chain saw doesn’t have enough power, it doesn’t get enough heat, and the chain saw stops when loaded.

Faulty components often cause the machine to shut down under load. Check hoses, seals, gaskets for leaks. If parts are faulty, you can try to repair or replace them.

In cases where the chainsaw starts and immediately shuts down, there is not enough fuel, the device does not heat up. The unit should be refueled

It is important to use the proper mixture. Different types of fuel are better for different models. It is necessary to read the instructions, recommendations, testimonials of people whose appliance works normally

It is necessary to read the instructions, recommendations, feedback from people who have the device works properly.

At idle

In those situations when the chainsaw stalls at idle speed, it is necessary to inspect the condition of the muffler. If the part is contaminated, the exhaust gases are poorly vented, the engine cannot continue to run, stops.

The saw cuts out when idling and when the carburetor is not properly set. For beginners, it is better to entrust the repair to specialists, because there is a probability of incorrect adjustment, due to which the instrument will not be able to work. To adjust the carburetor requires a tachometer.

chain, starts, then, shuts, down

At high RPM

If the unit stalls at high revs, check the condition of the gasoline and air filters, the condition of the fuel hoses

Contaminated air filter can be washed under warm running water

It is important to thoroughly dry the part before installing it so that the water doesn’t affect the performance of the tool

If the fuel hose stops flowing, it is blocked. You can clean the part or replace it with a new one.

If you have a problem with a high RPM cut-off, but all the fluid is still leaking through the hose, and the air filter is clean and working properly, look for the problem in the fuel filter. Replace it with a new one or clean it.

In some cases the problem is in the gasoline pump. When a component is worn, fuel begins to leak through the walls. If this phenomenon is observed, a new pump should be installed.

When tilting

If the saw doesn’t rev up when tilted, shuts down, stops working check the fuel level in the tank. If it is not too high, the device in a tilted position is not supplied with enough fuel because the fuel pipe is above the mixture level.

Your chain saw starts and stops

If you have problems with the chain brake or not enough lubrication in the power unit, it might mean that the machine just stops after you have started it. First of all, you need to check the oil level. if it is not enough, then pouring the liquid, the problem will be solved. But sometimes the level is in the normal range and the engine still stalls. This means that the problem is most likely in the tube through which the oil enters the lubricator.

There may also be a problem with the carburetor. It might need to be debugged according to the instruction manual of the chainsaw. But if the carburetor is badly clogged or broken, it is better not to try to repair it yourself. see a professional technician.

Sometimes the saw can’t start properly, because the fuel level is too low. when you tilt the tool, the fluid flows away from the suction tube.

Chainsaw stalls when hot

Sometimes the tool starts normally when the motor is cold, but as soon as the device warms up, the saw stops working. There are several possible causes:

chain, starts, then, shuts, down
  • The carburetor isn’t working properly. The air-fuel mixture is too enriched and the fuel simply floods the spark plug. The problem is solved by reducing the gasoline supply for the mixture.
  • Faulty ignition coil. If on a hot motor, the spark on the spark plugs is missing, then this may indicate the unsuitability of the coil. the part needs to be replaced.
  • A faulty spark plug. The problem is very similar to a faulty coil. You need to find out whether it’s the coil or the spark plug that needs to be replaced.

What to do if your chainsaw stops when you press the gas

One of the most common questions regarding the operation of this device: why the chainsaw stalls when you press the gas and what you need to do to solve this problem? In such a situation, it is necessary to perform the following actions:

  • check the fuel filter;
  • check the fuel hoses for leaks;
  • Check the muffler;
  • Try increasing the RPM a little more;
  • Check the condition of the rubber seals on the crankshaft.

Saw stops working when revs are increased

The filters often get clogged, especially when you run your chainsaw almost every day. The air filter can be disconnected and washed under warm water. Allow to dry thoroughly before reinserting it.

If after disconnecting the fuel hose from the carburetor no fluid flows from it, then it is clogged. It can be cleaned or replaced with a new one.

If the tool is used often, the gasoline pump can fail. Because each part has an expiration date. It must be replaced or go to a service center.

The advantages of self-repair

Specialists offer several options to look for. the cause of poor engine starting or if the power unit stalls when running. Recommendations are equally valid for home and professional chainsaws.

Owners with chain saw experience use simple, time-tested, intuitive troubleshooting algorithms that allow them to quickly resolve many failures and malfunctions while on the job.

The success of the work is promoted by knowledge of the construction of the tool and the interaction of all its components, availability of locksmith and repair skills and operational experience. These same abilities allow owners to use their chainsaws with high efficiency.

Self-repair provides the opportunity to save material resources and reduce the time of forced outages.

Chainsaw stalls on load

This problem could indicate a misadjusted carburetor or insufficient sealing of the crankcase. Sometimes air is sucked in through old oil seals. To fix the problem, you need to check all the seals on the carburetor and the motor itself. If you can see their damage, then the cause lies in this part. It is a good idea to periodically change outdated seals and oil seals before the problem occurs.

Overfilling and overfilling chainsaw plugs can be single and accidental. For example, “over pumping” with the pump cap (primer): the engine does not start immediately, the operator presses the cap again and again with his finger, tries to start, pumps again.

In this case it is not the carburetor at all. Remove the spark plug and blow out the combustion chamber by pulling the starter cord several times, as when starting the engine. Wipe the spark plug, dry it on a gas burner or burner flame, or use another one. Check the spark, put the spark plug back. Try to start with no suction at first.

If the engine will not start after 3-4 jerks, push the pump cap 2-3 times. Tried again. That is, after overfilling it is better not to pump the fuel first, but to pump it up. Until the engine starts.

Candles sometimes require their own maintenance and care.

  • Inside, around the insulator, there should be no carbon deposits or dirt.
  • The contact between the electrode and the plate from the body of the plug cleaned with emery “nullovkoy”. Carefully, without rounding the end of the electrode.
  • You need to know the recommended spark plug gap (0.5 to 0.65 mm or more) specified in each chainsaw model manual.
  • For precise adjustment of the gap candle use special dipsticks. a fan set of plates of different calibrated thickness, which are folded into a handle, like a folding knife. Sold at auto tool and parts stores.
  • It is better to store your chainsaw at a low temperature when working in the winter. When you take it out of the heat into the cold from the sudden change in temperature, condensation can form everywhere, including in the ignition system, and this is harmful.

One of the reasons for the lack of spark in a chainsaw is told in the following video, which also tells how to fix the breakdown:

Today’s chainsaw ignition systems are quite compact and reliable. You just need to protect them from direct contact with moisture, shock, extreme temperatures. And then you won’t have any problems with the lack of spark during the start. It is also not superfluous to have 1-2 spare spark plugs in good working order.

Faults that lead to chainsaw malfunctions

There are a number of things to take into account when making a diagnosis, such as. к. They can cause the saw to malfunction.

  • Wear of crankshaft bearings. Worn crankshaft bearings inevitably lead to runout on the main shaft where the flywheel is mounted. In such a situation, to adjust the gap between the flywheel and the ignition coil is unrealistic, which leads to interruptions in the formation of sparks, and unbalanced operation of the chain saw.
  • Contamination of the impulse line. The impulse line serves to provide operation of the fuel pump, accordingly its pollution leads to incorrect operation of the pump that will make the saw impracticable (it will start and immediately stop).
  • Wear on the gas cylinder. Usually, with excessive wear of the cylinder, there is a decrease in compression in the engine chainsaw, which will certainly affect its ability to develop speed.
  • Fuel and air filters are clogged.

Why a chainsaw won’t start or shuts off. causes and solutions

A chainsaw is a household tool that, during its operation, succumbs to intense stress. Over time, many saw parts and mechanisms fail to withstand excessive wear and malfunction. The first sign of a serious fault with a garden tool is already evident when its engine fails to start. In this case, the first thing that the operator must do is to find the cause of the failure and quickly eliminate it.

Every time starting the engine of the household gasoline-powered saw correctly, its owner ensures well-coordinated and smooth operation of the mechanisms of the garden tool, as well as prevents rapid deterioration of its consumables. The procedure for starting a cold engine may vary slightly from model to model, but in most cases it is as follows:

  • The first step that the operator must necessarily take is to set the lever, which regulates the position of the built-in throttle flap, to its lowest position. It should be noted that the lever can only be set in this mode if the throttle trigger is pressed. By moving the lever down, the operator closes the choke located in the standard carburetor and locks the gas lever in the clamped position;
  • Next you need to start manipulating the starter rope. To do this you need to put your right foot in the “ear” located in the back of the housing, and rest your left hand on the handle of the chainsaw. Then pull the cable of the integrated starter motor of the garden tool sharply several times. As soon as the saw engine starts and stalls, the throttle position switch lever must be moved up one position;
  • After that you will need to pull the pull cord of the recoil starter a few more times. The engine should now start and immediately reach an extremely high rpm. This is because the operator has previously locked the throttle trigger in the clamped position;
  • Then pull the throttle trigger once and immediately release it. After that the throttle lever should go into its working position. The engine speed will drop at the same time. This means that you can start to operate the chainsaw on the site.

If the operator needs to start the garden tool with a warm motor, then this requires the throttle position lever to the penultimate position up and pull the starter rope. To shut off the engine, the throttle damper position adjustment lever will need to be moved to the extremely permissible upper position.

In some models of chainsaws used in the household, the factory engine is started in this sequence:

  • First, the ignition must be turned on and the toggle switch must be moved to the appropriate operating position;
  • Then it is necessary to press the transparent plastic primer, required for pumping fuel into the cylinder, 5-6 times;
  • The throttle position adjustment lever on the inboard choke must then be pulled fully out;
  • Then pull the pull cord sharply several times towards yourself. As soon as the factory engine starts and stops, you need to push the throttle lever all the way in and pull the starter lever a few more times. The operating instructions for some models indicate that after the engine has stalled, the choke control lever should be pressed only halfway. In this case, to the end press the lever only after the start and the beginning of the stable work of the engine of the chainsaw;
  • On models where the throttle trigger is locked by pulling the throttle control lever, the engine will start at high RPM. If, on the other hand, the throttle trigger is not fixed on the chainsaw, the engine speed will be minimal. Because of this, the engine, a few seconds after starting, can stall. In this case, start the engine of the garden tool until it warms up and starts working more stably.

If the operator has to start the chainsaw with a warm motor, he will only have to turn on the ignition and pull the starter rope a few times sharply.

Why the chain saw does not start. causes and remedies

The operating mechanisms of a garden tool wear out over time, resulting in various malfunctions of the chainsaw. To fix them with their own hands, the operator must quickly determine the cause of the failure and replace the faulty part.

What to do if the chainsaw stalls when you press the gas?

If a chainsaw you use on the farm or in felling is running fine when idling, but shuts down under load, it can indicate two common problems in most cases. The first common cause is a clogged air or fuel filter. To inspect the parts you will need to remove the chain saw’s protective plastic sheeting. It is a good idea to clean the filter elements by rinsing them thoroughly in clean gasoline. If the filters could not be cleaned, then they need to be replaced.

It is not uncommon for a chainsaw to warm up and shut down because of a faulty fuel pump. It works under the influence of the gears, which, during intensive work, wear out quickly. The problem can be solved by replacing defective gears or the entire pump.

To avoid problems in the future, it is important to choose the right gasoline components for your chain saw. Only use gasoline with the octane number indicated by the manufacturer of the garden tool. When choosing engine oil, the chainsaw operator should give preference to those brands that produce oil with all the additives necessary for the stable operation of the tool.

Your chain saw starts up right away, but stalls when you add gas. repair the problem

The main reason for this failure should be looked for in the carburetor that was originally incorrectly adjusted by the operator. If the tool picks up revolutions and stalls, most likely due to a mechanical shock or increased vibration, the factory settings of the fuel assembly adjusting screws have been violated. To solve the typical problem that causes the tool used to stall when heated, you need to adjust the carburetor.

If even after adjusting the carburetor, the garden tool stalls on load, then you need to carefully inspect the pipes through which the fuel circulates. If a hole is formed in one of them, the fuel will not be able to fully enter the engine cylinder. Because of this, the garden tool will arbitrarily shut down during the increase in rpm.

Often the chainsaw stalls when you give the gas, due to a violation of the air filter’s capacity. To solve the problem of arbitrary engine shutdown on hot, it is enough to wash the element and the space under it with clean gasoline. Then reinsert the filter and carefully check the operation of the power tool again.

Chainsaw starts and stops. causes of failure

This common problem is encountered by users who partly use their chainsaws in hard-to-reach places. Under such conditions, the saw inevitably succumbs to mechanical shocks, which leads to a disturbance of the gap between the ignition coil and the magneto.

For the stable operation of the ignition system, the gap between the magneto and the coil of the chainsaw should not exceed 0.5 mm. In some models of professional chain saws this parameter can be 1-2 mm more.

To properly adjust the gap between the parts of the ignition system, you need to remove the left side protective cap. Then it will be necessary to unscrew the 2 screws, located by the manufacturer near the flywheel. Once the flywheel is away from the coil, you will need to attach a special template to the latter, which has a thickness corresponding to the gap between the integrated flywheel and coil. After that you should turn the screws clockwise one by one, thus bringing the handwheel closer to the template.

If this did not help, then it is necessary to check the condition of the gasoline chainsaw engine. As a result of prolonged use on the inner walls of the cylinder burrs or other defects are formed that prevent normal operation of the motor. In this case, you will need to carefully grind the damaged surface of the cylinder and try to start the chainsaw again.

There is a spark, the spark plug is wet. the solution to the problem

The main cause of this malfunction is the use of a poor-quality fuel mixture prepared in the wrong proportion. Because of the overabundance of engine oil, it eventually overflows into the cylinder and gets on the spark plug. At first the spark plug can still generate a spark, but over time, this ability is lost.

The first thing to do to fix the problem is to unscrew and rinse the plug from carbon deposits. If the tar on the surface of the component has time to harden, it is possible to use a lighter which will heat up and melt the soot. In this case you should be very careful not to damage the spark plug pins. Next you need to wash the part in clean gasoline and dry it thoroughly.

chain, starts, then, shuts, down

While the spark plug is drying, the operator should dry the saw’s cylinder. To do this you need to pull the starter rope several times. Then it is necessary to install the spark plug in place and try to start the chainsaw engine.

Damaged or depressurized fuel lines are often the cause of plugging. If one of the hoses has been damaged in the place close to the spark plug, this is likely to be the cause of the part flooding. To fix the problem, you need to replace the fuel tube. In this case, the places of its connection to the fittings will need to be carefully treated with moisture-resistant sealant.

How to properly start a chainsaw. common ways

Every time correctly starting the engine of the household gasoline chainsaw, its owner ensures a smooth and smooth operation of the mechanisms of the garden tool, as well as prevents rapid wear of its consumable parts. The procedure for starting a cold engine of different models may vary slightly, but in most cases, it looks like this:

  • The first step that the operator must be sure to take is to set the lever adjusting the position of the built-in throttle flap to its lowest position. Please note that you can only move the throttle trigger into this position when the throttle trigger is held in. By moving the lever down, the operator closes the choke located in the standard carburetor and locks the throttle lever in the clamped position;
  • Next, it is necessary to begin manipulating the starter rope. To do this you need to put your right foot in the “ear” located in the back of the body, and hold the left hand against the handle of the chainsaw. Then you should sharply pull the cable of the integrated starter of the garden tool several times. As soon as the engine starts and stops the throttle position lever has to be moved up one position;

In case the operator needs to start the gardening tool with a warm motor, to do this, move the throttle valve lever to the penultimate position upwards and pull the starter rope. To shut off the engine, the throttle position switch lever will need to be moved to the extremely permissible upper position.In some models of chainsaws used in the household, starting the factory engine is done in this sequence:

  • First you need to turn on the ignition and move the toggle switch to the appropriate operating position;
  • Next, press the clear plastic primer required to pump fuel into the cylinder 5-6 times;
  • The operator will then be required to fully pull out the in-line throttle position adjustment lever;
  • Then pull the recoil starter rope sharply several times. As soon as the engine starts and stops, the throttle lever must be pushed all the way in and the starter lever must be pulled several more times. The manual for some models specifies that after the engine has stalled, the choke control lever only needs to be pressed halfway. In this case it is necessary to press the lever to the end only after the start and the beginning of stable work of the engine of the chainsaw;
  • In models where the throttle trigger is fixed by pulling the throttle control lever, the engine will start running at high rpm. If the throttle trigger in the chainsaw is not fixed, then the engine speed will be minimal. Because of this, the internal combustion engine, a few seconds after starting, can stall. In this case, you need to start the motor of the garden tool until it warms up and starts to work more steadily.

If the operator has to start the chainsaw with a warm motor, he will only have to turn on the ignition and pull the starter rope sharply several times.

Chainsaw stalls at high rpm. simple carburetor repair

The carburetor of the tool is exactly the mechanism that most owners are afraid to disassemble on their own. The reason is that this mechanism consists of many small parts, the location of which should be remembered during disassembly work. However, not everything is as scary and difficult as it may seem. To understand what relationship the carburetor has to the problem of the engine stopping working when the revs are increased, you need to know its principle of operation, described on the website.

The chainsaw stalls when you press the gas because of the carburetor if:

  • Damaged diaphragm
  • The filter element (the mesh in the carburetor) is clogged. This malfunction can be encountered by owners of tools that do not have a fuel filter or it is simply disconnected from the fuel hose

It is recommended to clean and wash the carburetor of a chainsaw, as well as replace faulty parts and elements. After that it can be put back, not forgetting also to replace (if worn) the gasket between the carburetor and the adapter.

What to do if the chainsaw still won’t start?

If the initial inspection did not give anything or the defects were eliminated during the search, and the chainsaw still does not start, then you need to look for more serious causes. It is better to find and eliminate such malfunctions in the service center. However, with experience, you can find and fix them yourself. What to diagnose and check?

In the first case, checking the compression in the cylinder will clarify the condition of the cylinder piston group (CPC) chain saw does not want to start in the cold. To do this, you will need a compressometer. The device is screwed in place of the spark plug and the engine is idle. Measuring readings gives an indication of the condition of the cylinder head. In the absence of a compressometer, the compression in a cylinder can be determined at a glance, as follows:

It is possible to check the compression in a cylinder by placing the finger on the spark plug hole and twitching the starter

If you feel that the finger is strongly pulled into the spark plug hole, then there is nothing wrong with the compression. The absence of rarefaction in the chamber, indicates a malfunction. The cylinder-piston group needs a more detailed inspection, which will give an idea of the condition of the piston and cylinder, piston rings and bearings.

The chainsaw does not start in the cold can also be due to lack of compression in the engine crankcase. The main reason for this is damage to the gasket placed between the cylinder and the crankcase. Detecting lack of compression is quite easy:

  • Disconnect the top tube from the carburetor;
  • Pour gasoline into the regular plug;
  • Dip the removed tube into the fuel;
  • Pull the starter a few times.

If the fuel is sucked out of the cap when the chain saw starter starts, then there is nothing wrong with the compression. If not, check the gasket.

If the fuel retracts, everything is in order. the gasket is intact. Otherwise you will have to buy a repair kit and make a replacement. How to do this, see the video, why the Chinese chainsaw does not start:

Starting the tool can be complicated by improper operation of the carburetor or its failure. It is often the case that the fastening screws loosen during sawing and air is sucked into the cylinder. Check that the carburetor is securely fastened. Examine it for fuel leaks. There are many possible causes. The carburetor can only be precisely identified, repaired and fine-tuned by a service center.

By following the step-by-step defectology of the chainsaw engine, you will be able to find the fault, fix it yourself and successfully start your working tool. Don’t take on jobs you’re not sure about. Entrust the search and elimination of faults to specialists from the service center.

Every person who is familiar with power tools knows that sometimes the technique works intermittently, and can at one moment stall and never start again. There are lots of different reasons why a STIHL chain saw fails to fire, but let’s review the most common ones.

Why a STIHL chain saw won’t start when hot? Why the chain saw does not start well

Let’s look at each cause in more detail.

Fuel and air filter

Dirt on the chainsaw’s main filtration elements, affects the chain saw’s performance.

For example, a dirty air filter, will not provide a full amount of air to the carburetor, which will affect the quality of the fuel-air mixture and normal engine start. A dirty fuel filter, makes it hard or impossible to get gasoline into the carburetor and start the engine.

Reduced compression

One of the frequent cases of a chain saw with difficulties in starting is the wear of the cylinder block (piston group).

As it is known, for normal start of a chainsaw in its engine there should be compression. It is necessary for normal compression of the fuel mixture in the engine cylinder, it also affects the work of the gasoline pump.

While the tool is in use, the compression value drops, and chain saw does not start properly.

The reasons for the lack of compression, or its decrease, can be natural, i.e.к. The engine will wear out as it operates. Problems can also be caused by a serious failure, such as a scored cylinder, or a broken piston ring.

A sign of low compression is a weak resistance of the starter when starting. When compression is low, the chainsaw will have less power, and that will have a negative impact on its performance. Can be fixed by replacing piston rings or the entire cylinder/cylinder block.

Adjusting the carburetor

Improper carburetor adjustment will cause the chain saw not to develop full power. Starts poorly or does not start at all. Adjusting the carburetor directly affects the quality of the air-fuel mixture, which is necessary for normal starting and further engine operation.

If the carburetor is not properly adjusted, the fuel-air mixture will contain more or less gasoline than required, and the mixture will not ignite even with normal spark formation.

The excess of gasoline in the mixture, is called overflow. A characteristic sign of overflow, is a wet spark plug, after several fruitless attempts to make a start of the chainsaw.

Spark plug

The spark plug is one of the main components of the ignition system. On its electrodes the spark is formed, and if the element fails, it is difficult or even impossible to start the engine.

Spark plug may fail completely or work intermittently or give a weak spark. Check the plug is simple enough, this requires unscrewing it from the engine, connect it to the cap of the high-voltage wire and, putting it on the cylinder, pull the starter. If the spark plug is okay, the spark will be strong with a bluish tint. Weak spark with a reddish tint, a sign of a problem. Defective spark plug must be replaced.

Ignition coil

The ignition coil may be the reason why a new chain saw does not start, or starts poorly. Modern chainsaws, are equipped with electronic ignition coils. This part can not be repaired, and, as a rule, if there is a defect, it is completely replaced.

Gap between ignition coil and flywheel

Improperly aligned clearance between the flywheel and the ignition coil contacts, affects the quality of spark formation, which in turn is responsible for normal starting and stable engine operation.
