13 AMP ELECTRIC 16 MOWER. Lightweight lawn mower for elderly

Worx WG775 Lil Mo Review

Worx’s mowers always seem to look a little bit different from the rest. Everyone has their own opinion. Some people think they look like toys but I actually think that they look pretty cool. They are new, innovative and just different. The Worx WG775 Lil’Mo is no exception. It’s a cordless battery-powered mower and at under 200 its price point is very attractive. I am actually a big fan of battery-powered mowers and the technology used is improving all the time. I had heard pretty good things about this one and wanted to give it a trial run. I tested it out in various conditions and was keen to know what kind of performance it offers and how good its battery is. I’ve put all of my findings into this review.

Worx WG775 Lil’Mo Review – How Did It Perform?

The fact that this mower has such a small cutting width means it’s ideally suited to small gardens. As the runtime of the battery is fairly decent though you could use it on bigger yards, but you would have to accept that you’ll be doing a lot more walking. You could also make use of it to supplement your ride on mower in large gardens as its great for getting into small spaces (such as between bushes or trees) where ride on mowers just can’t go. It’s also a great mower for women and the elderly because it’s so lightweight and easy to push.

Specifications

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jef60 from Easily maneuverable It is so lightweight and easy to use. Assembling it was quick and not complicated at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SantaClaus from Great Cord is annoying as expected, but otherwise just what I needed for my front lawn. It has more power than battery-powered mowers and seems to do a better job of sucking up clipping because of the extra power. Very light weight, so when the bag gets mostly filled it tends to want to tip backwards and not want to stay flat on the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Benton AR from Easy The ease of setting the height and it works well for my small yard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lkcowgill from Solved my problems! Just bought this smaller mower. It’s quiet, easy to start (Take that gas mower!), manuvers well, stores compactly and I can pick this up easy which has been an issue for me for a long time, having to go all the way around the house to get a round steps in the back yard. I will tell every single woman I know this is the mower for them! Finally, one that fits!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Marcelazarate from Great features I bouth this 15 days ago and i and my yard are so happy !

Rated 5 out of 5 by Melbern from Phenomenal features. Been using these since 1988! (Even own the 13″ model!). Extremely economical! Extremely lightweight! Thin/sharp blade super cuts! Air is sucked in from above and super chews up the vegetation and/or shrubs! Cord is NO problem since i simply loosely drape it over my shoulder then mow away from where it’s plugged in! Use a 2,000 watt Converted with car batter jumper clamps to easily mow anywhere! Very quiet motor! The only thing to watch for is the thinner blade can bend if you suddenly hit something real hard.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LoriH from Does the Job I purchased this mower September 2022. It was easy to assemble and lift. Mowing height adjustment lever is conveniently located and the mower cut the grass effortlessly and just as well as my gas powered mower without the noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TK111 from Perfect size I purchased this mower to mow a small front lawn. Works perfect for the area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RandJ2014 from Small and powerful I love this small and powerful lawnmower. Push button to start. Plug in, so get a long extension cord. Easy to change the settings. Turn off immediately when you release the handle. Cuts evenly. Bag or mulch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JON_RYOBI from Easy-to-Use Mower So far, this light 16” RYOBI corded mower has been an easy-to-use, low-maintenance mower. I would recommend setting the mower to the tallest grass setting of 5, buying a 100 ft. 12-guage extension cord (50 ft. is not nearly long enough), and emptying the bag regularly to avoid clippings from discharging from the bottom. Once you get used to coordinating with the cord (make sure to keep the cord perpendicular to the direction you are cutting), mowing is as simple as using a vacuum cleaner. This mower sometimes struggles with tall thick grass, so you can try tilting the mower up at first in order to make cutting easier.

Depending on how often it is used and how well it is taken care of, an electric lawn mower can last anywhere from three to five years.

Many people are wondering if they are hard to push. The answer is, it depends on the model. Some electric lawn mowers are heavier than gas powered ones, but most are lightweight and easy to push.

Self-propelled lawn-mowers: Pros and Cons.

Many lawnmowers in the current day and age are self-propelled, meaning they take all of the hard work of out mowing the lawn. There’s no need to push, you just simply walk behind the mower and steer where necessary. There a number of pros to self-propelled mowers that vastly outweigh the cons, it’s just all about making sure you have the right lawnmower for your needs.

Things to Consider

As mentioned, one of the great things about the self-propelled mowers is the lack of pushing involved, especially for larger gardens or ones that are on an inclined slope. nobody wants to trudge a lawn mower up and down a hill. What many fail to realise is that the self-propelling motion means that the cut will have a smoother and more even finish due to the lack of stopping, starting, pushing and pulling. With a battery powered self-propelled mower, this is improved upon again because there isn’t a wire being dragged through the lawn.

With a conventional mower, you don’t benefit from the above features, but you do have a little more control over the speed, when to stop and when to start. Cornering or mowing oddly shaped spaces can occasionally be easier with a standard push mower too, as you don’t have to fight against the drive of the wheels.

Suitability:

Generally, the best suited gardens for self propelled mowers are those with large or square-shaped spaces, or if the garden is located on a sloping plane. A self-propelled mower can also be a fantastic tool for an elderly person, as the self-propelled motion will take the strain out of pushing. However, for those who are a little unsteady on their feet, it can sometimes be a better idea to use a push-style lawnmower with which they will have greater control over the movement speed.

If you’re looking for a top quality self-propelled lawnmower, garden 4less recommends the Cobra 18″ Cordless lawnmower. Not only does the Cobra tick all boxes of a good self-propelled lawnmower, its four-wheel drive motor makes it especially good for uphill gardens. The Cobra also doubles as a mulcher if desired, allowing the user to choose between having the clippings to be deposited into a collection bin or cut finely and then lightly dispersed back into the lawn, improving the quality of the soil underneath. It is lightweight and cordless, making it a great choice for domestic use.

The Best Cheap Electric Lawn Mower (from experience)

I do not usually write articles like this but due to covid, I am aware that many people are skint and probably out there looking for a bargain.

Well, you are in luck because I am going to share with you my recent experience of finding a cheap lawnmower that shows that cheap does not mean bad. I have found the best cheap electric lawnmower and it is definitely up to the task.

That lawnmower is (pictured above) the Hyundai HYM3200E (amazon link – opens in a new tab).

Why Choose an Electric Lawnmower?

Choosing an electric lawnmower is a great idea for many reasons especially if you have a small to medium-sized garden.

Personally, my garden is a little larger than average and I have a self-propelled petrol mower which is great, but I had to find a lawnmower for my elderly Nan, so it had to be just right.

Below are a few of the benefits of using an electric lawn mower for your small garden.

Price

Electric lawnmowers are certainly cheaper than their fuel-powered cousins. Not only is the initial purchase better for your wallet, but you also will not have to purchase any additional fuel either.

Not only that but maintenance costs and replacement parts are far cheaper too.

Clean Energy

Unlike petrol lawnmowers, electric lawnmowers use electricity and do not emit any emissions which are harmful to the environment.

With the ongoing developments in renewable energy, electricity is as clean as it gets which is great for nature and all of us.

Lightweight

Due to the lack of an engine, electric lawnmowers are now so light they can be carried in one hand and pushed around the garden with absolute ease.

Many electric lawnmowers these days come in at under 10kg which is spectacular considering the power.

Noise

Another great reason to choose an electric mower is that they are quieter than petrol-powered mowers and will not make as much noise.

A quiet mower, there is no such thing just yet, but an electric mower is much quieter than their combustion engine counterparts which will save your ears a little bit.

Why Choose the Hyundai HYM3200E?

First off, Hyundai is one of the most trusted retailers in the automotive industry and their vehicles and machines are well-known for their reliability.

After looking around at various mowers in the lower-end price range (my Nan’s garden is only small), I thought this ticked the most boxes and is the best cheap lawnmower around – boy was I not disappointed!

Price

For what you get, the price is absolutely great. Yes, this is at the budget end of the spectrum and if you do not have much to spend, this machine is for you.

When I purchased one for my Nan, it even came with an electric strimmer too!

10m Cable

The Hyundai comes complete with an extremely long 10m cable which is almost unheard of in the budget range meaning that for most small gardens, you will not even need an extension cable to plug it into.

Weight

One of the great things about this mower is how light it is. It comes in at 8.8kg and once you have picked it up, you will be surprised by its cutting power.

The weight of this machine makes it great for just about everyone from the elderly to those that may have mobility issues.

Grass Collector

A reasonably sized 25l grass collector means that you will not be back and forth to the compost bin every 30 seconds.

The grass collector even has a fill level indicator so you can see when it needs to be emptied without having to stop.

Warranty

Hyundai is so confident in their machine that they are offering a 3-year platinum manufacturer warranty with this product which is not to be sniffed at.

3 Cutting Heights

Unusual for a budget end machine to have adjustable cutting heights but there it is, Hyundai has gone above and beyond to offer the best they can for the price.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Mower

There are a few things that you may want to consider before buying yourself a new lawnmower. Your budget, the size of your garden, your storage space, and your mobility are all things that you will need to think about.

Budget

First and foremost for many will be how much you can afford to spend but if you have a really small garden, is there any point in buying something high-end?

Size of Your Garden

The size of your garden will dictate what type of machine is suitable. A corded electric machine is fine for a small to medium garden but if you have an expansive area to mow, you may need something with a little more power.

Storage Space

Storage space is important. You may not have the space to house a large petrol mower, if not, something smaller that folds away would be great.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it come with a UK Plug?

Yes, when purchased in the UK, the Hyundai comes with a moulded 3-pin plug suitable for use with the standard UK 240v 15A socket.

It takes a few minutes for a person to set this up. One of my favourite aspects about this product is that it has such an easy design that does not require any tools or professional help.

I was able to assemble it myself in just a few minutes! Anyone can do it, especially if they want something low-key and basic like this one!

Does it come with a replacement blade?

No, there is no replacement blade although the blades are made of stainless steel and should last a good few years at the very least.

When you do need a new blade, spare parts can be ordered for the Hyundai at a good price.

Other Criteria

There are other things to take into consideration when choosing a lawn mower. Some lawn mowers are better suited for use by certain groups of people such as the elderly, landscape business owners, or people who want to race their mowers. These considerations are generally secondary to the other features of a lawn mower.

Best Lawn Mower for Stripes

There are a few features that you need to look for when choosing a lawn mower to cut stripes into your yard. While you can opt for either gas- or battery-powered lawn mowers, using a self-propelling mower will make this job a lot easier. Look for a mower with a wide cutting width for decreased cutting time while you’re working in the yard.

It’s also important that the lawn mower is very maneuverable so that it can be used around objects in the yard or around landscaping without a lot of difficulty. By choosing a lawn mower with multiple cutting heights, homeowners can make sure that they have the right height for their lawns and that the stripes really stand out, which is sure to make the lawn really pop.

Best Lawn Mower for Racing

Front-engine tractor lawn mowers are the best option for racing. Because you will need a lawn mower that you can ride on, you can’t use a self-propelled or push mower. While zero-turn lawn mowers are riding mowers, they are not the right option here.

For a racing mower, you need to make sure that you choose a gas-powered tractor lawn mower. These lawn mowers will have the strength and power that you need to turn them into great racing mowers. With smooth handling, the right wheels, and a durable axle, it’s easy to turn a tractor lawn mower into a racing mower.

Best Lawn Mower for Elderly/Senior Citizens

It’s a good idea to choose a lightweight lawn mower that will be easy to control when shopping for one for a senior citizen to use. While a riding mower may be tempting, these can be very difficult to control and often require more maintenance, which can be stressful and difficult for a person to complete on his or her own.

While gas-powered models do offer the power that is needed to cut a lawn, they can also require maintenance and tend to be very heavy. The best option is an electric or battery-powered self-propelled lawn mower. Robotic lawn mowers can be used as long as the owner is technologically savvy.

Since these don’t weigh nearly as much as gas-powered models and are easy to use, they are a good option for elderly homeowners who want to be able to take care of their lawns. Another option is reel mowers as they don’t require any kind of major maintenance, are very light, and also aren’t noisy.

Best Lawn Mower for Ditches

Because tractor lawn mowers are not safe to use on steep inclines, they are not a good option to use in ditches. Zero-turn mowers, push mowers, and self-propelled lawn mowers are much better options. Zero-turn mowers are generally safe to use in ditches as long as the users are really careful when riding on them.

Zero-turn mowers also have a larger deck and more power, making them a good option when a regular lawn mower simply isn’t large or powerful enough to get the job done. Push or self-propelled lawn mowers can also easily be used in a ditch. Because the grass in ditches tends to be thicker than lawn grass, opting for a gas-powered mower is a good idea.

For small ditches hover lawn mowers can do the job quite well. Otherwise turn to weed eaters / line trimmers. They can go places wheeled lawn mowers will never be able to go, depending on the physical fitness of the person handling the equipment of course.

Finally, tow-behind mowers can be used behind ATVs if the ditch is particularly large and long. Since ATVs are designed to handle rough terrain, they can easily handle a ditch. Additionally, while they are rougher on the ground and may tear it up, this is not as big a deal in a ditch as it would be on a lawn.

Best Lawn Mower for Landscape Business

Landscapers have to have lawn mowers that they can rely on. While a push mower may be fine for mowing one yard, mowing multiple yards with a push mower is exhausting, which is why most landscapers instead opt for self-propelled lawn mowers to use in smaller yards and riding lawn mowers for use in larger yards.

No matter the type of lawn mower used, it will likely be a gas-powered mower as they are more powerful and there isn’t any concern about the battery failing in the middle of mowing a client’s yard. While there are higher costs associated with gas-powered mowers, they are very reliable.

Additionally, since most clients will likely want their grass clippings bagged and mulched, landscapers need to make sure that they opt for mowers with this feature. This will ensure that there isn’t any cut grass left behind on the yard, which some people find unsightly.

Best Lawn Mower for the Money

The best lawn mower is going to be the one that is the right fit for the area where you have to mow. Smaller yards and ones with nice grass are going to need a different mower than open fields or ditches. Taking into consideration the size of the area you will mow, the terrain, what type of grass there is, and any features will help you shop.

Fuel type plays a huge role in choosing a lawn mower as gas-powered mowers are more powerful than battery or electric mowers are. Additionally, it’s important to consider not only how you pay for a new lawn mower but also where and how to store it.
