Cub Cadet 526 SWE Snow Blower
The Cub Cadet 526 SWE Snow Blower is the bigger brother of the Cub Cadet 524 WE Snow Blower. It’s also much bigger than models like the Cub Cadet 221 HP Snow Blower. The 526 SWE is powered by an engine designed and built by Cub Cadet. It’s a 4 stroke, 0.28 liter engine. This powers the auger which has a diameter of 0.3 m (12 inches) and will break up even heavily compacted snow, ice and wet snow. This is mainly due to the fact it is constructed from high strength steel that is heavily serrated. Once the snow has been processed by the auger, it then travels towards the impeller, which is built out of steel blades. The impeller forces the snow out through the chute and shoots it far from the clearing area. The impeller has a diameter of 0.3 m (12 inches).
The chute on the Cub Cadet 526 SWE snowblower is very strong and constructed from steel. It has been specifically designed to resist clogging. The chute can rotate through 200 degrees which is allows you to chose exactly where you want to shoot the snow. There is also a defector at the end of the chute to give the operator an extra level of accuracy to where you are sending the snow.
The tires on the Cub Cadet 526 SWE snow blower are 0.13 m (5 inches) wide and have a diameter of 0.38 m (15 inches). The tires are from Cub Cadet’s X-TRAC range. The 526 SWE snow thrower weighs in at 124.7 kg (275 lbs). The transmission on this machine gives it 6 speeds when moving forward, while when it’s traveling in reverse it has 2 gears. You are able to use this snowblower when it’s dark outside thanks to a front facing, in dash halogen headlight. Cub cadet lawn tractor snow blower
From my dealer days, I quickly found to easiest way to do some damage to your LT machine is to mount a snowthrower on it, or pull a 2000lb roller. A blade wasn’t too bad. And getting warranty to pay on normal use when this happened was a “pleasant experience.” So my opinion was in part supported by MTD tech support as well as warranty.
But what I did personally, and after it worked well for me, then I started suggesting to others is this: (1) let your lawn tractor be your mower and invest in a walk-behind 2-stage snow thrower. Why? Easier to move around, store, easy to maintain, as well as easier to resell if you no longer have a need for it. Or (2) which has already been mentioned; find an older machine to be your “grunt/workhorse” to mount a snowblower, blade, etc on to.
This is certainly just my opinion and not trying to tell you what to do. But we all need to keep in mind, the current machines are nothing like what they used to be. And just because accessories are advertised as going on them, doesn’t mean it is wise to put them on. Good luck to you and keep us informed of what you decide. Once again, just an opinion of someone who’s driveway is 150 ft long and 35 ft wide.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.

Cub Cadet Snow Blowers
Apart from manufacturing walking and riding lawn mowers for residential and commercial use, Cub Cadet also offers seven different snow blower models. Referred to as “snow throwers,” Cub Cadet snow blowers have clearing widths that range from 24 inches to 45 inches and are powered by 4-cycle engines ranging from 208cc to 342cc. All Cub Cadet’s snow throwers feature push button electric start, posi-steer fingertip-controlled power steering and deluxe steel skid shoes.
Cub Cadet was founded in 1961 by International Harvester to provide a new line of products for the residential market. Production started in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1981, MTD Products Inc. purchased the Cub Cadet line from International Harvester and is still known for its “dependability and rugged construction.” Cub Cadet riding mowers and tractors continue to have a loyal customer base, which has lead to a magazine called Cadet Connection, highlighting collecting, restoration and general information for the Cub Cadet tractor enthusiast.
Where to Buy
On residential machines, Cub Cadet uses Kawaski and Kohler engines. Cub Cadet snow throwers use a two-stage operation technique. Each machine features an “auger” or steel spiral at the front and an “impeller” to throw the snow, which is a fan-shaped disc behind the auger. All Cub Cadet snow throwers also feature eight speeds, six forward speeds and two reverse speeds. Posi-steer fingertip-controlled power steering, as well as a remotely controlled chute pitch allows for single-handed operation.
