The task of the fuel filter in gasoline trimmers is to protect the engine of the device from various impurities that are contained in gasoline and oil.
Externally, it is quite small. It is made of felt material. The manufacturer puts the compactly folded felt into the metal tip and places it on the intake tube inside the fuel tank.
Another accommodation option is in the line between the carburetor and the tank. Many trimmer owners even notice overly thorough cleaning, so the material quickly becomes clogged so badly that it requires a complete replacement.

Its main purpose is to keep dirt and dust entering the trimmer from the outside during operation.
When mowing in the air often rises not only dust but also a small litter, chopped grass, which can quickly clog the technique. A good filter will prevent engine damage, even if the air is very dirty.
Its location may vary depending on the trimmer model but is usually located on the side of the device under the protective cover.
The casing is fixed either to the bolt or to the latches, which are very easy to open to remove the contents. The filter itself can be made in the form of a ring or plate of foam rubber, felt, fleece.
If you mow on average 1-2 times a week, then a replacement will be enough at least once a year. With more intensive use, inspection and replacement should be more frequent.
How to clean the trimmer filter?
Sooner or later it will be necessary to wash the Huskvarna trimmer air filter or any other manufacturer. There is nothing difficult, and you can remove the pollution from it yourself a couple of hours before mowing.
To do this, proceed as follows:
- Turn off the bolt on the protective cover, or press the latches.
- Take out the filter and inspect. Gasoline will be required to remove all accumulated oil and other contaminants.
- Pour gasoline from the canister onto the dirty filter and wash off all the oil. Squeeze and leave to dry for at least 2 hours.
- Wipe the installation site with a cloth dipped in gasoline.

You can use soapy water instead of gasoline, but it doesn’t remove dirt anyway.

Replacing the trimmer fuel filter.

The first thing to do is remove the intake tube since the filter itself is located inside the fuel tank. To do this, hand pull over the pipeline. When removing the seal, the intake tube should come off and stay in the tank. tweezers will help to remove it from there. You can also drain the gasoline from the tank and pull the intake tube through the hole.
We take a new filter, and we put on it a suction tube and a spring-ring.
We install the sealing ring back to the pipeline, we attach the intake tube with a new filter to it and fill it in the tank with the machine.
Install the O-ring in place. A little turn around its axis so that the connection is fixed.
We pump over the carburetor using a booster pump.
