Choosing Trimmer Preview Options in Sony Vegas pro 12

When you are editing in the Trimmer, you can decide to display the video in the Video Preview window or in a video monitor in the Trimmer.

    If you want to display the Trigger cursor position in the Video Preview window, right-click on the media file in the Trimmer window and check Show Video monitor is not selected, and then right-click on the media file in the Trimmer window and the selected Video Show in Preview Window.

When you click to position the cursor in the Trimmer window, the frame at the cursor position will be displayed in the Video Preview window, and the transport controls in the Trimmer window will play the current file in the Video Preview window.

  • If you want to display the highlighted video monitor in the Trimmer window, right-click on the media file in the Trimmer window and the selected Show Video Monitor. When the video monitor is working, you can. Click the media file in the Trimmer window and the selected Show Video frames to show or hide the video frames in the Trigger News Feed.
  • If you want to display a more accurate cursor position on the external monitor, select the Trimmer on the External Monitor Button.
  • If the external monitor is turned on for the Trimmer and the Video Preview window, the focus will determine which source is sent to the external monitor: click in the Trimmer window to send its video to your external monitor; click on the news feed or track the list to send its video to your external monitor.

    Selection of multi-channel audio options / multi-stream audio options

    When you work with the Trimmer’s multi-channel or multi-stream audio input, you can choose whether you want to add multi-channel audio / multi-stream, audio to the news feed, creating events.

    Right-click on an audio waveform in Trigger and select Use All Streams and Channels to enable Las Vegas
    Pro determine which audio streams and channels to use:

    • When used, surround AC3 or Windows Media stereo reduce the flow, will be used by adding media to the stereo project. When adding media to 5.1 surrounds the project, surround stream will be used.
    • In other cases, all streams and all channels will be added to the feed.

    When Using All Streams and Channels is not selected, only the stream and channels displayed in

    The audio events are grouped, and the tracks that are created by adding media will pan extremely left and hard right. You can right-click the waveform in the Trimmer, select Channels, and then select a command from the submenu to select which channel is used for that event.

    Moving a frame by frame in the Trimmer window

    As you navigate through the video file in the Trimmer, the exact frame that the cursor is finished in a timely manner is displayed as in the thumbnail image under the cursor. Using the left and right arrow keys, this allows you to edit with frame accuracy.

    You can also click Previous Frame and the next button frame to move through the frames in the Trimmer window.

    Do any of the following to select data in the Trimmer window:

    • Use transport controls to play your media file. Press I or [to mark the beginning of the selection and press O or] to mark the end of your selection.
    • Drag the Trimmer window to select a data range.
    • If you know the time code for the start and end of your selection, double-click the fields at the bottom of the Trimmer window and enter the time code values.

    To select only the audio or video part of the media, right-click and select Select Audio Only or Select Video Only in the context menu, or you can press Tab or ShiftTab to cycle through the selection among audio only, video only, or audio and video.

    If Show Video Frames is selected in the Trimmer context menu, press CtrlShiftUp to give more video space and CtrlShiftDown to give more audio space. You can also right-click on an audio or video feed and select Video Height Larger, Audio Height Larger, or Video and Audio Equal Height in the context menu.

    Adding Media to the Timeline

    When import stereo as double mono checkbox will be selected on the tab "Are common" In the Preferences dialog box, audio files with two channels will be added to the feed as separate mono audio events on separate tracks. For more information see "Preferences. tab "Are common"" on page 576.

    1. Open the media file in Trimmer.
    2. Select the part of the file that you want to use.
    3. Drag the selection to the desired track. The choice becomes a new event on the track. If the media file includes both audio and video, each is placed on a separate track.

    4. Click on the Add Media from Cursor button to insert the selection after the cursor position in the currently selected track, or click on the Add Media up to Cursor button to insert the selection in front of the cursor.

    Editing with Four-point (using trimmer selections to fill on timeline)

    1. Open the media file in Trimmer in sony vegas.

    2. Select the part of the file that you want to use in the video editing.

    3. Select the part of the news feed where you want to use the Trigger option.

    4. Press the Fit to Fill button. A tidier selection is squeezed to time or expanded to populate a feed selection.

    Rewrite news feed events with Trigger Selection

    The standard Trimmer behavior is to perforate. in edits on the news feed: when you add media to the news feed, the events that the Trimmer creates are based on existing events on the news feed. You can delete or move events that you create with the Trimmer without changing the underlying events.

    If you want to replace the content of the feed by creating events from the Trimmer, click the Enable Timeline Overwrite button. When Turn On News Feed Overwrites is selected, ripple editing is not available.
