Bush Hog Zero Turn
Just wondering if anyone here has had experience with a bush hog ztr. I drove a professional series today and really liked it. It had the Kohler 30hp, 61″ deck and suspension seat. The ride felt pretty good and the swivel front axle seems to help the ride also. I am also looking at the deere 925a with 60″ deck. I cant seem to find many threads on the bush hogs and hoping i can get some reviews. Thanks

I am in Louisiana and have about 8-10 acres total to mow between myself and family land. I need something commercial b/c some of it is not very smooth (maybe half) and need something with a good ride that will hold up. bush hog and bad boy dealer are about 1 mile from my house and deere dealer is 15 min. I tried the bad boy and didnt like it as much as the bush hog. I Liked the controls on the deere and the quieter kawi. engine, but it didnt have the suspension seat which i know I can get at an extra cost. Will upgrading the seat help a good bit or not much? Thanks

Bush Hog makes some nice commercial ZT mowers. The Bush Hog Commercial Series zero turn mowers offer both 25 and 26 HP Kohler Pro Filtration engine configurations. Options are also available with 25 HP and 27 HP Briggs Stratton Commercial Turf and 24 HP Kawasaki FS730V. The Bush Hog motor goes up to to 10 MPH with blade tip speeds of 18,000 FPM. The Bush Hog Commercial Series zero turn mowers have cutting widths of 55- and 61-inches, and deck heights from 1-1/2-inches to 4-1/2-inches. For comfort, the Bush Hog Commercial Series offer a high-back, foam padded seat with flip-up arm rests and seat slides.
The commercial series zero turn mowers have an optional mulching kit with blades that shred grass clippings into a fine, lawn-feeding mulch. It also comes equipped with Bush Hog’s bar tires, which are specially designed for traction on hilly terrain or red clay mud. The attached working halogen headlights can be positioned from operator’s seat. Available accessories include a white canopy that mounts directly to the roll bar (ROPS tube) to provide shade and a trailer hitch kit for easy towing.

ALAMO GROUP TO ACQUIRE ASSETS OF BUSH HOG
SEGUIN, Texas, September 4, 2009. Alamo Group Inc. (NYSE: ALG) announced it has signed an agreement to acquire the majority of the assets and assume certain liabilities of Bush Hog, LLC (“Bush Hog”), a leader in the design, manufacture, distribution and service of rotary cutters and other agricultural implements and equipment. The purchase consideration is 1.7 million shares of Alamo Group Inc. common stock which, after the closing, would represent approximately 14.5% of the outstanding common stock of Alamo Group. The purchase includes substantially all of the ongoing business of Bush Hog, including the Bush Hog brand name and all related product names and trademarks. The purchase is expected to close within 90 days, assuming customary regulatory approvals and the completion of other standard requirements.
Ron Robinson, Alamo Group’s President and Chief Executive Officer commented, “This is an exciting development for Alamo. Bush Hog is the leading manufacturer of agricultural mowing equipment in North America and has the most recognized name in the industry. This acquisition is very synergistic with our North American Agricultural Division and together we will be able to offer the market the broadest range of products in this sector of the industry.”
Based in Selma, Alabama, Bush Hog principally sells its products across North America through a network of independent dealers and distributors. Bush Hog had fiscal 2008 revenue of 160 million. Their product line includes rotary cutters, finishing mowers, zero turn mowers, front-end loaders, backhoes, landscape equipment and a variety of other implements. Duane Prentice, Bush Hog’s President since September 2008, will remain in that capacity with the new Bush Hog subsidiary of Alamo Group following the completion of the transaction. Bush Hog will continue to manufacture at its Selma, Alabama facility, which is included in the acquisition. Upon completion of the transaction, Bush Hog will become part of Alamo’s North American Agricultural Division.
Mr. Robinson continued, “While Bush Hog is being impacted by the current economic weakness seen across the agricultural sector, we believe the combined organization will be a strong force in the market both today and tomorrow. In conjunction with the transaction, CC Industries, Inc., Bush Hog’s current owner, will have the right to nominate a director to Alamo’s board.
