How To Make A Mower With Your Own Hands?

Such equipment for the garden, as a mower with his own hands, most often is an urgent need. Anyone associated with working in the country will agree with the truth that harvesting hay tiller significantly saves time and effort. This procedure requires self-propelled devices such as a mower and a hay pad. However, a mounted mower for a tiller or a factory-made tractor in commercial networks costs a lot of money, and not every summer resident can afford it.
In this case, the best way out is to make a mower with your own hands. Usually, you can make a homemade mowing machine from improvised means, lying around in a barn or garage, and you can get the missing parts on the market at a reasonable price.

Rotary mower.

Rotary, she’s a disk, mower for hay is considered the simplest device of all similar, which can be done by hand. It is intended for a tiller because it is too small for mounting on a tractor. For it, first of all, you need to weld a frame from a metal corner, usually 4 by 4 cm. You will also need discs from an old seed drill, each of which needs to be fixed with four knives made of hardened steel. Four holes with a diameter of 0.6 cm are drilled in the disks to do this. The knives are fixed to the disks with a tavern attached to the vomer regardless of the knives themselves. At the same time, the distance between the shank and the knife should be 1-2 mm wider than the thickness of the knife blade.

The rotating disk will be a centrifugal force to straighten the knives, which should be able to still rotate freely around its axis by 360 °. It will allow them to avoid breakage when confronted with solid objects hidden in the grass. Each knife must be mounted on an axis with a diameter of at least 8 mm made of solid hardened steel. It should be tightened until it stops so that the knife rotates without interference. To drive will need gear chains, taken from the old chainsaw, and gears from the car VAZ. Drawings of this design are widely available. Harvesting hay tiller with such a device will help not only to mow, but also to grind the already mowed grass.

Segment mower arrangement.

The segmented or finger mower is somewhat more structurally more complicated than the rotary mower, but it is also quite suitable for self-assembly. The choice of design most often depends on the availability of parts. For such a mower, a metal bar measuring 15 by 50 by 120 mm is taken, which can be replaced by a fragment of a broken inert arrow. It should be drilled 12 holes of such diameter that the M8 bolt entered. Knives and teeth on the guide rail will subsequently be attached to these bolts. Each knife should have a segment and a clip of the drive lever on the back, and such knives should be mounted on both sides of the bar.
On the timber, also from both ends, it is necessary to fix the clamping devices and small runners. The main frame should be equipped with a wheel, which is quite possible to take from the old baby carriage.

The cutting knives of such a device will be set in motion by a tiller PTO shaft. For this segment of the cutting, the part is fixed on the eccentric shaft, rotating from it. The eccentric will transform the rotational movement into the reciprocating upper of the segments fixed on the lower stationary one, which also has teeth.

Stalks falling between the teeth are cut, but grinding, unlike a rotary mower, does not occur. The scheme and the drawing of such a design are easily accessible.

Mower carriage design.

Such a mower resembles a rotary one but more complex in the device. Its main advantage can be considered as a large cutting force, which allows cleaning plants with a hard tree, and in winter using small constructive changes as a snow thrower. The basis of such a mowing machine is a welded frame of iron corners, set on four wheels, from a pram. A floor of metal sheet or at least thick plywood is placed on the frame. The frame parameters may be different, but a rectangle of 80 by 40 cm is considered optimal.
Two rotating drums are installed on the frame, which can be used as cans of large volume. The lid and bottom of such a jar are cut out and replaced with wooden circles. Banks can be replaced with metal sheet disks. They need to be made in the amount of 8 pieces, 4 of which should become external and have a diameter of 20 cm, and 4. internal, with a diameter of 17 cm.

They should be connected in pairs, the larger with the smaller, with the help of bolts, and on each disc secure four knives at equal distances from each other. They must rotate freely, for which purpose a gap of about 1 mm must be left between the blade and the surface of the disk. It remains to insert the sleeve into the drum, and fasten it to the frame.

On the frame, you need to install a crossmember from an iron corner 35 by 35 mm. The side parts of this corner need to be cut to the same 35 mm so that you can screw in the M5 bolts. The drums are connected with a conveyor belt, for which the corners must be provided with grooves 13 mm wide. The lower hub of the drum is mounted movably, and special tension corner parts are attached to the upper ends of the drums. They are tightened to the ends of the transverse angle with M5 screws with a length of 6.5 cm. The design, as a whole, is quite understandable. Conveyor tape can be made of a strip of thick rubber, which is connected to a ring with an aluminum plate 2 mm thick.

Rules for connecting mowers with tiller and their use.

To get a full-fledged self-propelled mower and rowing machine for hay, you need to connect everything with the tiller properly. Since any of the above devices is designed to work at high speeds, any inaccuracy can lead to the destruction of the unit. In this case, the drop-down parts and their fragments fly out with great force like fragments of an explosive device. Therefore, when connecting the mounted unit with the tiller, the latter must be kept in reverse mode, and any of the connections to its power take-off shaft should be made by installing the connecting unit of the unit in the tiller hitch socket.
A protective cover must be installed on the mower knives, and additional weights must be removed from the tiller wheels.
Grass mowing must be done at the lowest speed, and the clutch must be engaged. In motion with the mowers on, in no case should you make sharp turns.
You need to rotate smoothly, with slowing down the speed of movement. These rules must be observed when the self-made unit moves using a little tractor. Only then tiller-hay harvesting will take place quickly and without problems.
A homemade mower in terms of its effectiveness is no way inferior to the models produced by leading industrial enterprises.
