Proportions of Oil and Gasoline For Chainsaw Partner

Proportions of Oil and Gasoline For Chainsaw Partner

All modern chainsaws are equipped with a two-stroke engine. Its long and uninterrupted operation directly depends on whether the proportion of oil and gasoline is correct for a chainsaw. The variety of brands of the tool and the features of each of them are the reason that this procedure is not easy for most novice users of chainsaws.

Why mix oil and gasoline

When operating the saw, gasoline must always be mixed with oil. The reason for this is the design features of a two-stroke ICE. It does not have a dedicated lubrication system for parts (as in other internal combustion engines) and, accordingly, its cylinders with o-rings, crankshaft, bearings and connecting rods should be lubricated directly in the process of obtaining fuel.

The ratio of the amount of oil and gasoline for the fuel mixture

The proportion of oil and gasoline for a chainsaw is usually made up according to two recipes:

  1. 50 servings of gasoline per serving of engine oil
  2. 40 servings of gasoline per serving of engine oil

If a chainsaw has recently been purchased and has not yet been used, then the proportion of lubricant is increased by a quarter. As much of it is poured into fuel, cutting at temperatures below 2 degrees.

To get such a mixture is not difficult. Almost every modern saw comes with a special two-section capacity. Oil is poured into a smaller part, and gasoline into a large part. The covers of both parts tightly twist and the container is turned over, shaken thoroughly. This achieves a complete and uniform mixing of both components.

If there is no such special container, then you can use any plastic-resistant gas tank with a lid of one liter and a disposable syringe 5-10 cubes. The tank for gasoline must first be cleaned of all kinds of pollutants and water. After that, one liter of 92-95 gasoline is poured into it.

In parallel, the syringe is typed 20 ml oils. If refueling is carried out in cold weather, then you need to take it 24-30 ml. Gently pour it into a container with gasoline. It is tightly closed by a lid and shaken thoroughly until the components are completely mixed.

Recommended brands of fuel and lubricants for powering chainsaws

The specific brand of gasoline for the saw is always given in the instructions from the manufacturer. It is recommended to strictly follow it.

There are 2 types of oil:

  • for engine
  • to lubricate the chain and tire.

Do not confuse or use them for other purposes. This is guaranteed to lead to tool breakage. Repair it can cost almost like a new saw.

The most popular chainsaw lubricants are following brands:

Each container with branded oil always indicates the proportion of oil and gasoline for the chainsaw (Stihl, Husqvarna, Partner, Urals), which must be followed when composing the mixture.

Step-by-step refueling instructions

Wanting to refuel a chainsaw, you need to follow a simple algorithm:

What will happen if you pour mining into a chainsaw

When the owner of the chainsaw uses it for some time, he may want to carry out some modification of the tool. And it is good if his wishes are limited to the purchase of various nozzles that expand the functionality of the chainsaw. But some go further. they begin to experiment with gasoline and oil, on which their saw works.

If we already spoke about gasoline (most modern saws require it with a high octane rating. no lower than 92-95), then it is worth mentioning especially about oil. Many motorists accumulate a significant amount of used engine oil during car operation. And so some people want to use this material to refuel the chainsaw.

If you do this, then the engine will fail. The reason for this will be primarily the low lubricity of the reused oil. It will burn with a large allocation of black soot. The metal particles contained in the oil will first clog the fuel filter (these are the particles that are larger), and then the cylinder o-rings will fail. A metal suspension in oil will damage both the surface of the cylinders and bearings.

Some “rationalizers” try to use mining to lubricate the chain itself and the block on which it is located. It also will not lead to anything good. What exactly will happen can be seen in the attached video.
