How to clean the carburetor of a brushcutter

Repair of lawn mower carburetor

the lawnmower is an indispensable aid for the private household in the fight against excessive vegetation, and the first tool in the art of landscaping. But sometimes in the midst of your intensive work with the chain saw, it suddenly starts to stall or the engine speed becomes unstable. You understand that you need to repair the lawnmower. In fact, there may be several reasons for such behavior of gasoline grass trimmer, we’ll consider the most banal, and yet the most common in our area. And it is the use of low-quality gasoline or oil, resulting in a need for repair of the carburetor or more precisely its cleaning.

Repair of lawn mower carburetors preferably of course produce in a specialized workshop or service center. But it is not always possible and economically feasible. Having a little experience in the repair of technology can independently and qualitatively clean the carburetor of lawn mowers from dirt. First of all you need to disconnect the carburettor from the mower. Next, carefully disassemble the carburetor, carefully not to damage the membrane, gaskets and needle. In parallel, they are carefully inspected for damage. They need to be replaced if necessary. To repair your lawn mower carburetor, there are special repair kits on sale. After releasing the housing, which is made of duralumin, clean all the internal channels of the carburetor. There are several ways to do this. One of the old-fashioned ways to purge with a car pump or compressor. If the dirt is serious, you can soak the carburetor and its other innards in clean kerosene, gasoline or acetone for a while and repeat the procedure. When blowing and cleaning, pay attention to the channel where the needle and the nozzle. Do not clean the passages with a metal wire or other hard objects.

Why is the repair of a lawn mower carburetor a common occurrence? Because, unfortunately, the gasoline on sale is of poor quality or contaminated. Although brushcutters have filters for coarse and fine cleaning of fuel from different particles, but still some of them leak into the carburetor of the lawnmower and settle on its walls and in the fuel ducts. over, gasoline lawnmowers mainly use two-stroke internal combustion engines. For the operation of such engines, or rather their lubrication, oil is added to the gasoline. This is a special oil for two-stroke engines. The quality of such oil should also be good because mixed with petrol it may also have a negative effect on the fuel system purity. In order for your brushcutter carburetor to work smoothly, use only quality gasoline and oil. Gasoline should be 92 or 95 octane, not leaded, not old. Use oil from a well-established brand name on the market, preferably from a well-known producer.

How to assemble the lawnmower carburetor? After repairing the lawnmower carburetor and cleaning it, everything is assembled in reverse order. Parts and gaskets are made in such a way that they cannot be incorrectly installed without effort. They have special holes and grooves that are very difficult to mix up. If you are all assembled and you do not have any extra parts, it’s already good. After assembling the carburetor is installed on the gasoline grass trimmer and make adjustments to the quality and quantity of the fuel mixture with jets.

Keep an eye on the condition of your lawnmower’s carburetor, and then it won’t let you down in the midst of grass-cutting. Cleaning and blowing it does not take much time. The price of a new carburetor is 200-300 hrn. But you can save this money if you timely monitor the cleanliness of his and replacing worn parts.

When and why to clean the carburetor?

When the season is in full swing for taking care of those green spaces, using a shrubbery mower is a must. But when you turn it on, you notice that it tends to accelerate or contrary to the stall. However, the last time you used your device, there was no sign of weakness. Don’t worry, this is a sign that you need to clean the carburetor to make sure your engine is running properly. Some routine checks that only take a few minutes and that will keep your garden at ease. It’s normal to experience this type of inconvenience, but with this guide, you’ll be able to solve the problem very easily by following the various steps indicated.

Remember that when working with your mower, it’s important to clean the carburetor with the machine completely off to avoid injury. Also, don’t forget to use gloves to avoid minor cuts and minor discomfort when working with mechanical parts.

How to clean the hedge trimmer carburetor?

If you’re not a DIY expert, it’s recommended that you take a few pictures at each step to make carburetor assembly easier. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to clean the part in question step by step.

A guide to cleaning the carburetor

First, disassemble all parts of the mower to get to the carburetor. This usually consists of the air filter, a few gas cables, and the metal connections.

Once you have been able to evacuate all the parts, you can safely remove them and place them on a clean, flat surface to make your job much easier.

Rest assured, by this point you have almost completed the disassembly phase of your unit. Carefully remove the bowl from the carburetor to gain access to the other mechanical parts called nozzles. Have a clean container into which you can drain the excess gasoline. Don’t be surprised by the amount, which may be several tens of milliliters, depending on the size of your equipment.

At this point you should focus on cleaning the sprinkler, this is an important part that allows you to charge the gasoline, but unfortunately it gets clogged very easily, which can cause problems with powering the engine. This is a screw drilled into a very thin structure that you have to find. Carefully loosen the screw to gain access to the nozzle, and depending on your mower model, there may be several. Clean gently, using a sponge or cloth, but never use metal objects as these can damage the injectors.

Other parts that need to be cleaned or moved when servicing the carburetor

Some hedge trimmer models have a removable fuel filter. It is absolutely necessary to clean it, following exactly the same process as when cleaning the nozzles.

Other parts that come with the carburetor, such as the bowl or float, can also be cleaned to remove any traces of gasoline present on those parts. Cleaning these items. A necessary operation that you’ve done brilliantly if you’ve gotten to this point. All you have to do is assemble the parts, relying on the various pictures you may have taken beforehand.

What product to clean the carburetor and where to buy it?

Some special products exist to clean the hedge trimmer. During the various operations that you have performed to dismantle the equipment, you can remove more deposits with a special cleaner.

Available as a can or container, it is highly recommended for periodic cleaning. The advantage is that with this product you can directly use it both outside and inside the carburetor.

Its effectiveness is particularly emphasized because the cleaner removes all gasoline deposits on mechanical parts. This will also reduce the emission of polluting gases and further dissolve the various petrol deposits inside the mechanical parts you are dismantling. This will allow you to take good care of the hedge trimmer. All you have to do is use the appropriate product, following the steps above.

Principle of operation

Fuel Injection and Filtration Procedure In an engine cutter, the engine works as follows.

  • Using the air damper, set the amount of air flowing into the diffuser. The more air is delivered, the more oxygen needs to be burned and more energy is released in the form of heat. The thermal energy is then converted into mechanical energy.
  • The diaphragm pump pumps the required volume of petrol.
  • The gasoline then passes through the engine fitting.
  • Fuel flows through the intake and exhaust valves.
  • Fuel is filtered through the sieve.
  • Through the needle valve, it also enters the diaphragm chamber.
clean, carburetor, brushcutter

The step-by-step operation of the carburetor is as follows.

  • Air flows into the air duct with an air damper. Damper sets the desired airflow.
  • In the gas injection unit, the diffuser is tapered. This is necessary to provide a higher airflow rate.
  • The fuel passes through a compartment with a float and flows through, getting into this constriction of the tube. The float valve feeds the gasoline. In this section the pressure is in equilibrium. In a constricted tube, it goes down. Because of the difference between the two pressures, the gasoline also flows through the injector.
  • The accelerated flow atomizes the gasoline, turning it into an aerosol vapor. The resulting gasoline-air mixture is ready to ignite in the combustion chamber.
  • After passing through the fuel line, this mixture enters the carburetor cylinder.

Conclusion: to set the required power, first of all, you regulate the rate of combustion with the air damper. If the gap is too small and the oxygen in this mixture is less than 10%, the fuel will not burn, so the engine will not start or stop immediately.

If you buy a Chinese grass trimmer, keep in mind that it is not much different from the European. Same 2 or 4 stroke engine and drive.

However, they save on the quality of the parts, forcing the consumer to change them more often. Check what compatible parts are offered by non-Chinese companies for your unit.

Major problems

Failures of the carburetor or grass trimmer, despite their relative ease of troubleshooting, sometimes require a long search for exceptions. Major Causes:

  • Unsatisfactory quality of gasoline purification;
  • Clogged air filter;
  • Accumulation of deposits and carbon deposits in the carburetor compartments and shocks.

Fan failure

Most common failure. Wear and tear, diaphragm rupture. As a result of its unsuitability. Fuel lines are not sealed at certain stages of the engine cycle. Causes here:

  • You have been working on your mower or trimmer for too long without a break;
  • Poor-quality fuel;
  • Exhaust fumes enter the impulse line.

A deformed diaphragm has several bad consequences:

  • Not enough gasoline or oxygen in the mixture created;
  • The engine starts after 10 or more failed attempts;
  • The engine is knocking, clicking while running, etc.Д.;
  • Working piston is deformed.

As a result, the inside of the fuel pump is contaminated by the impulse channel.

Sieve clogging

Causes of filter clogging. Poor fuel cleaning, hose and/or nozzle damage.

Adjustment lever error

Wear of the lever contact surface is the result of incomplete combustion of fuel, including grains of sand or particles of clay, metal or other inclusions insoluble in liquid hydrocarbons. There is a problem with fuel injection, the engine runs intermittently without load.

Inlet needle is defective

Inlet needle ruptures because of metal and stone particles in gasoline. As a result, the inlet needle seat does not fit tightly; the fuel mixture leaks. The fuel mixture created by the carburetor has too much air, causing the engine to “sneeze” during operation. Finally, the needle can stop due to poor quality gasoline, or the device will be idle for a long time.

Clogged adjustment seat

Deposits may accumulate in the regulator. The needle does not close the hole completely, and a lot of gasoline gets into the fuel chamber. The engine overflows it, it can also fill the spark plugs. Because of this, the gasoline-air mixture contains an increased amount of gasoline vapor. The efficiency will drop noticeably.

Diaphragm adjustment is damaged

The diaphragm is often deformed (sometimes ruptured) due to continuous operation of the hedge trimmer or grass trimmer for several hours. If you abuse this “shock” mode, the diaphragm is more likely to be damaged. New disruptions will fall like a cornucopia:

  • The piston will break;
  • The number of attempts not to start the engine will increase dramatically;
  • The fuel mixture will contain too little gasoline;
  • Net power output will drop drastically.

Inlet lever control knobs

Jammed adjustment lever is the result of improper installation, accidental bending. Contact finds wrong position. This will disrupt the extra gasoline injection.

The dampener has been worn

Throttle and air damper become unusable due to dust, metal particles, and the like. Damaged debris looks like sandblasted parts. Due to valve wear, engine efficiency is reduced, breakdowns are detected. Piston and cylinder wear out.

In some cases, this filter is simply not suitable for your model grasshopper or grass trimmer. The motor shaft will eventually be damaged. Parts of it will get into the engine channels, causing piston failure.

The carburetor cannot be adjusted

The springs on the adjusting screws are to blame for the adjustment being too coarse (parameters cannot be set accurately). The hedge trimmer or grass trimmer manufacturer may have supplied excessively thick and stiff springs. Others can be found either in workshops where such equipment is repaired, or purchased from any dealer or official representative of the company that produced the engine for your grass trimmer or mechanical braid.

The primer is broken

Primer. Hand-operated mini-pump for forced fuel injection in the carburetor. You may need to inject 20 ml of gasoline by hand in order to start the engine successfully.

How a chainsaw’s carburetor works

The carburetor on any modern chainsaw is an integral part of the engine that continuously adjusts the amount of air needed to mix with the fuel at all times, and feeds the finished mixture into the cylinder of the engine.

In most modern chainsaws, built-in carburetors initially have a similar structure and almost the same principle of operation. There are certain differences only in the fuel assemblies of Chinese models.

The main elements of all chainsaw carburetors include:

  • Float chamber. a small compartment, the main task of which is to maintain the optimal amount of fuel filled;
  • atomizer. an important mechanism that is initially responsible for the injection of fuel into the intake air flow;
  • The diffuser is located near the regular inlet port, through which the air enters the chainsaw engine compartment. The main function of the diffuser is to forcibly accelerate the intake of air masses;
  • tube. is required to supply air in small volumes. portions, the size of which depends on the needs of the fuel system.

The principle of operation of the chainsaw carburetor is also quite simple. When the chainsaw is running, the engine throttle is actuated, which, when open, lets air in through the factory rubber tube. The float in the fuel-chamber is activated by the gradual opening of the choke and the pipe connected to it. Continuously passing through the standard diffuser, the air is intensively mixed with the fuel. After that, the ready-to-use air-fuel mixture is sprayed into the working cylinder of the regular engine through the factory intake.

During the atomization of fuel the pressure inside the float chamber of the chainsaw is almost identical to the atmospheric pressure. At the same time, the pressure in the factory air tube is rarefied. Due to the difference in these values air is continuously sucked in by the tube. As the engine rpm increases, it needs more fuel. Accordingly, the tube should suck in more air. So it is from the carburetor in many respects depends on the engine ability to intensively gain speed required for sawing large wood.

How to properly adjust the carburetor on the chainsaw?

To independently adjust the carburetor of a chainsaw brought the desired result, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work. First of all the operator should make sure that the engine is in good working order. To do this, be sure to remove the top cover of the protective plastic housing and carefully inspect the engine CPG for burrs, cracks and other defects. If they are formed, it will be necessary to grind the surface of the assembly. It is important not to damage protective chrome-plated or niXyl coating of the cylinder.

Next you need to inspect the spark plug. If a thick layer of dried soot has formed on it, the part will need to be unscrewed and thoroughly cleaned. To do so, it is necessary to heat it up and carefully scrape off the remains of dried up oil from its tip.

In the end it is necessary to examine parts of the entire fuel system of a chainsaw. Clogging in the tubes, accumulated debris in the fuel and air filters, unstable operation of the diffuser. all this leads to the loss of the necessary engine revolutions. As a result, the operator does not get accurate information about the operation of the motor and can not set the correct settings. You can prevent this by washing carburetor parts, filters and pipes. After they are completely dry, they can be installed in their original place.

When the carburetor needs adjusting?

Stable operation of the brushcutter carburetor depends to a large extent on its correct setting.

Adjustment of the unit is required in the following cases:

  • after running in a new grass trimmer when 4-5 full tanks of fuel have been used during operation;
  • due to frequent changes in the brand of gasoline used for refueling by the operator;
  • as a result of a sudden change in the weather;
  • due to prolonged storage of the grass trimmer;
  • as a result of unintentional unscrewing of the trimmer adjustment bolts caused by strong engine vibration;
  • Due to a sudden increase in the amount of fuel consumed by the trimmer.

You will also need to adjust the carburetor of your brushcutter if the spark plug of your tool quickly becomes soiled or if there is a sudden increase in the amount of exhaust gas emitted by the trimmer.

adjusting the lawnmower carburetor with your own hands

Regardless of the garden tool model, the adjustment of the grass trimmer carburetor requires careful preliminary preparation. The owner of a brushcutter will need to check the spark plug, the air filter and the carburetor itself. In the case of dirt, all elements must be cleaned, or if necessary, replaced.

clean, carburetor, brushcutter

There are 3 adjustment bolts in the standard equipment of the grass trimmer. The first one is marked with the letter L and is used to adjust the engine when it runs at low rpm. The second bolt. marked with the letter H, and is required for the regulation of the engine when it works at the highest revolutions. The third bolt can be marked with the letters T or LA. with its help the operator can adjust the engine operation at idle speed.

The process of adjusting the grass trimmer carburetor is as follows:

  • First of all you need to do a few adjusting steps with the adjustment bolt L. To do this, turn it clockwise until it stops. After that the L bolt should be turned half a turn in the opposite direction. This will enable the optimum oxygen enrichment of the fuel mixture when the engine operates at low rpm;
  • Then you need to adjust the engine work in idle mode. To do this, turn the bolt T alternately in different directions until the mowing head or blade stops rotating;
  • at the end you need to adjust the level of oxygen enrichment of the fuel when the engine operates at maximum rpm. To do this, the bolt H needs to be turned clockwise to the stop, and then return it to 1/2 turn in the opposite direction.

Finally, the operator must turn off the grass trimmer motor and restart it. If it is adjusted correctly, the engine will go up in rpm with confidence when you pull the trigger and drop it quickly when you let go of the throttle.

How to adjust the grass trimmer on a brushcutter

Most modules have adjustment screws, and to understand their functionality is usually helped by the diagram:

  • L. for the fuel supply of the low-speed mode;
  • H. fuel supply at high rpm and its consumption;
  • T. idle speed adjustment.

Adjusting a brushcutter, the production of which is Chinese, can cause difficulties due to the presence of only one screw, which is responsible for the idle speed.

Important! The answer to the question of how to adjust the carburetor of Champion lawnmower, it is better to see on the video, where the professional does it.

Adjusting the lawn trimmer carburetor with your own hands

Regardless of the model of the garden tool, adjusting the grass trimmer carburetor requires careful prior preparation. The owner of a brushcutter will need to check the spark plug, air filter and the carburetor itself. If there is soiling, all elements should be cleaned or replaced if necessary.

The grass trimmer comes standard with 3 adjusting bolts. The first bolt is marked with the letter L, and is used for adjusting the engine when it works at low revolutions. The second bolt is marked with the letter H, and is required for adjusting the engine when working at maximum rpm. The third bolt may be marked with the letters T or LA. with its help the operator can adjust the work of the engine at idle speed.

The process of adjusting the brushcutter carburetor is as follows:

  • First you need to carry out a series of actions with the adjusting bolt L. To do this, turn it clockwise until it stops. After that, the bolt L will need to turn half a turn in the opposite direction. This will allow you to adjust the optimal oxygen enrichment of the fuel mixture when the motor runs at low speeds;
  • Then adjust the work of the engine in idle mode. This is done by alternately turning the bolt T in different directions until the mowing head or blade stops rotating;
  • At the end of the need to adjust the level of oxygen enrichment of the fuel at maximum engine speed. To do this, the bolt H need to turn in a clockwise direction up to the stop, then return it to 1/2 turn in the opposite direction.

At the end the operator must turn off the grass trimmer motor and start it up again. If the assembly has been set up correctly, the brushcutter engine will go up in speed when the gas pedal is pulled and drop it rapidly when the accelerator is released.

Lawn trimmer does not start? To eliminate the most frequent reason

Chinese brushcutters are a headache for the owner, but there is nowhere to go without them. The main problem is that it is difficult to start after a long standstill. If the lawnmower worked like clockwork in the fall, and does not start in the spring, then most likely you need to disassemble the carburetor and clean its valve.

Required tools:

If the brushcutter engine refuses to start, then the first thing to do is check the spark plug. If it is completely dry, it means that the fuel is not supplied to the combustion chamber and the reason is the carburetor. Immediately it is worth checking the spark plug to rule out causes on all fronts.

You can also make sure that the motor itself is in good working order. To do this, unscrewing the plug, you need to pour a syringe into the combustion chamber a few milliliters of gasoline. The spark plug is then screwed in and the lawnmower starts. If everything is okay with the motor, it will start for a few seconds. This will once again confirm that it makes sense to disassemble the carburetor.

Next, the plastic protective cover is removed along with the air filter. After that, a Phillips screwdriver unscrew the 2 screws that hold the air damper and carburetor on the engine. Immediately tear the fuel pipes.

On the side of the choke cap you need to unscrew a screwdriver 4 screws and divide it into two halves. We’re interested in the half with the choke. There is a valve on the inside center.

It often sticks because after the gasoline evaporates, it is covered with viscous oil that acts like glue. To check it, you need to put a short thin tube and try to blow air through it. If the valve is stuck, it cannot blow in either direction.

A stuck valve can be repaired with a match. It is better not to use toothpicks because they are sharp and can hurt. You need to put a match in the valve and with a little bit of your hand shake it. After cleaning it with a match it will blow out.

The fuel will be able to come in, so it will work. Cleaning the valve is not a panacea for all brushcutters that won’t start after idle time, but it helps in 8 out of 10 cases. The other 20% is usually also related to the carburetor, usually the needle.

How to adjust the carburetor on a gasoline mower

Before adjustment, you need to thoroughly clean the filters according to the maintenance in the manual.

Further adjustment of the lawnmower carburetor with your own hands is performed by the adjusting screws. There are three in total:

clean, carburetor, brushcutter

Right (L). adjustment of fuel mixture for low revolutions.

Find the maximum idle RPM. To do this slowly turn the screw (L) to the right and left.

To adjust, turn the screw a quarter of a turn, necessarily counterclockwise.

Lower (T). is responsible for adjusting the engine at idle speed.

It is characteristic for the correct idle speed adjustment:

  • stable operation of the cold engine;
  • not excessive revolutions of the hot engine;
  • For the trimmer head, there is a large RPM margin;
  • stable motor operation when changing the position (sudden raising or lowering of the blade).

left (L). fuel mixture adjustment at high rpm. (The screw is the last one to be adjusted).

The left adjusting screw (H) affects the general regulation of maximum engine rpm, engine output, temperature and petrol consumption.

Adjust the lawnmower carburetor with the last screw is done as follows:

  • Open the throttle to the full, at the same time give out full throttle. Turn the screw clockwise until rpm drops (in this case, focus on hearing).
  • Turn the screw as slowly as possible counterclockwise until the engine is uneven.
  • Then turn back just a little bit, barely hearing a steady, even operation.
  • For more obvious application of skills it is more convenient to consider the work of an experienced user:

Interestingly, from the point of view of the author of the video, the tuning (its correctness) is determined by the color of the candle, and not only by the revs and stability of the engine.

Proper adjustment of the carburetor with their own hands in this case. combustion of the fuel mixture without residue, the color of the candle should be light brown.

In what cases do you need to adjust the carburetor?

Stable operation of your brushcutter carburetor depends to a large extent on correct carburetor tuning.

Adjustment of the unit is required in the following cases:

  • after running-in of a new grass trimmer, when during the work was used up 4-5 full tanks of fuel;
  • If the operator frequently changes the brand of gasoline used for refueling;
  • as a result of a sudden change in the weather;
  • Due to prolonged storage of the grass trimmer;
  • As a result of arbitrary unscrewing of the adjusting bolts of the brushcutter, caused by strong vibration of its motor;
  • due to a sharp increase in the amount of fuel consumed by the trimmer.

You will also need to adjust the trimmer’s carburetor if the tool’s spark plug quickly becomes soiled, as well as if there is a sharp increase in the amount of exhaust gas emitted by the trimmer.

Grass trimmer carburetor repair with his own hands

In detail: repair of the grass trimmer carburetor with your own hands from the real master for the site olenord.com.

Very often the complaints of owners of gasoline trimmers are associated with various kinds of carburetor malfunctions. Of course, it is best in such a case to seek help from specialists in this field, for which the repair of carburetors of gasoline trimmers is an integral part of the profession. However, if you are still familiar with the basic principles of the carburetor trimmer for grass, you can try to sort out the problem yourself, so as not to overpay money in the service, as sometimes the breakdown can really not be serious.

This article is just designed to help you deal with the malfunction.

The following will be discussed the most common breakdowns and the causes of their occurrence.

The first thing to do is to inspect the carburetor as a whole and find out if there is any fuel leakage.

If it turns out that there are no problems with fuel, it is necessary to remove the carburetor from the engine and check the condition of the gasket, located near the carburetor.

If here, too, no faults are observed, you can try to check the carburetor for the degree of tightness.

To do this, you can buy a special device, which is part of the toolkits for repairing the carburetor of a brushcutter and is a special pressure gauge, which, in fact, and checks the tightness.

If you do not want to spend money to buy it, you can use an ordinary medical tonometer, which just need to change the gauge.

While using this device, pay attention to the reading.

If the pressure does not drop and remains the same for a long time, you can be calm, because it indicates the tightness of the carburetor.

If, however, the pressure after a certain time begins to decline, then there is still a problem.

They may be due to damage to any parts of the carburetor.

Before you run to the nearest repair shop or a specialized store selling trimmers and spare parts, try to figure out the problem on your own. Sorry for the platitude, but the brushcutter carburetor is not a spaceship extraterrestrial civilization, and its repair is quite possible to make their own hands. To be sure of your actions, see the step-by-step instructions in this article.

A visual inspection of the carburetor will help detect fuel leaks and air leakage, but the main causes of failure are internal. Therefore, to determine and most importantly to fix the failure carburetor carburetor should disassemble.

It doesn’t take much to disassemble a brushcutter carburetor.

It is sufficient to remove the four screws on one side

And two on the other side. You can do it with a common Phillips screwdriver. Carefully loosen the screws and fold to the side. You may need them for reassembly. It is desirable before disassembly to lay the table with a white cloth, so that all was visible, even the smallest details that may fall out during disassembly.

Start disassembly from the fuel supply side.

Let’s remove the primer. the swap bubble, which is noteworthy, when assembling the carburetor parts are simply impossible to install incorrectly. The parts have characteristic castings and holes.

Now remove the membrane. It performs the function of pumping fuel into the carburetor.

With vibration, the membrane on the other side exerts pressure on the rocker mechanism and the needle rises, which, in turn, opens the hole and there is a fuel supply.

Removing the carburetor cover with the injection mechanism.

Next, another diaphragm is installed. Remove it carefully.

Under the membrane there is another gasket. We carefully remove it too, in any case without damaging it.

Next, we proceed to dismantle the parts on the back side of the carburetor. As it was said before, unscrew the two bolts. This is the air system.

Here is a slide valve which, when you add “gas”, opens and increases the flow of air into the engine.

After removing it, you are left with a bare housing in your hands. The carburetor is disassembled.

Trouble shooting and troubleshooting

Now it is worth paying attention to the problems that occur during the operation of the carburetor and ways to fix them.

The first thing that happens is that the holes and jets in the fuel system get clogged. Filters installed in the tank and directly in the carburetor do not help. They do let in small particles that are the cause of the brushcutter‘s failure.

To do this, unscrew the bolt on the mechanism, holding it with your finger. The thing is that there is a spring and a careless action will lead to the fact that it is lost.

With what to perform purging. The most effective way is to use an ultrasonic bath.

It is filled with either a special liquid or gasoline, the carburetor is placed there and under the influence of ultrasound, the so-called cavitation effect, the channels are cleaned of dirt.

The device of the gasoline grass trimmer carburetor

Adjusting the carburetor of the brushcutter. a process that must be mastered for the full operation of the grass trimmer. Grass trimmer is a completely uncomplicated device, which can break only in a few places and require mechanical repair or replacement of a part. Adjusting the float-type brushcutter carburetor device may require knowledge of certain subtleties. Nuances due to the model and the specifics of its operation will ensure a clear mode of mixing and feeding the fuel mixture.

Champion lawnmower carburetor, how to adjust? This is just the float-type grass trimmer, a common option designed to mix air and fuel in the prescribed proportions. The main problems that arise during the operation of the motor, are roughly similar to the problems that overtake the carburetor in the car:

  • The engine may shut down as soon as you manage to start it. The reason is that not enough gasoline is being supplied. This is called “poor” fuel;
  • Excessively fed gasoline leads to incomplete combustion, excessive mixture density, and uneconomical consumption.

Carburetor repair

Important! Adjust the carburetor has to be adjusted under different circumstances: a change in temperature mode, octane number of fuel or type of oil, after winter or the end of the running-in period, load or spontaneous turning of the screws due to strong vibration of the housing. Some owners prefer to tune the module before each use to make sure it works correctly.

Major malfunctions

Faults in the carburetor of brushcutter or grass trimmer, despite the relative simplicity of their elimination, sometimes require a long search by the method of elimination. The main causes are as follows:

The most recurring breakdown. wear, rupture of the diaphragm. As a consequence, its loose fit. Fuel passages are not sealed at certain stages of the engine cycle. The reasons are as follows:

  • you work too long on your brushcutter or trimmer without a break;
  • low-quality fuel is being filled;
  • Exhaust gases enter the impulse passage.

A deformed diaphragm carries several bad consequences:

  • Not enough gasoline or oxygen in the combustible mixture created;
  • engine starting occurs after 10 or more unsuccessful attempts;
  • The engine is knocking, clanking when running, etc. д.;
  • The piston rod is deformed.

Read How much citric acid per liter jar of cucumbers

Causes of a clogged strainer are poor fuel cleaning, damage to the hose and/or discharge head.

Wear of the contact face of the lever is a consequence of not fully purified fuel, in which grains of sand or particles of clay, metal or other inclusions not soluble in liquid hydrocarbons got in. The problem with fuel injection appears, the engine without load is functioning with interruptions.

Inlet needle breaks because of metal particles and stone in the gasoline. As a result, the seat of the intake needle does not fit tightly, the fuel mixture leaks. The combustible mixture created by the carburetor has too much air in it, causing the engine to “sneeze” while running. Finally, the needle may be blocked by low-quality gasoline, or the machine may have been idle for a long time.

Sediments can accumulate in the control compartment. The needle does not close the hole completely, and a lot of gasoline gets into the fuel chamber. the engine overflows, and it may flood the spark plugs. The gasoline-air mixture contains an excessive amount of gasoline vapor because of that. The efficiency is noticeably reduced.

Diaphragm is often deformed (and sometimes torn) because the brushcutter or weed trimmer runs continuously for several hours. If you overdo this “shock” mode of operation, damage to the diaphragm occurs more often. New failures will pop up as from the horn of plenty:

  • the piston will break;
  • the number of unsuccessful engine start attempts will increase dramatically;
  • The fuel mix will contain too little gasoline;
  • the effective (thermal) power will drop sharply.

Adjustment lever seizing up due to faulty installation, unintentional bending. The contact cam will not be in the correct position. This will cause the petrol pump to fail to pump more gas.

Damaged choke

Throttle and air flaps become unusable because of dust, metal particles, etc. in the air flow. д. Damaged flaps look like parts that have been blasted with sand. Worn throttle valves reduce engine efficiency and cause breakdowns. The piston and cylinder will wear out.

The filter may not be compatible with your brushcutter or trimmer model. The shaft of the engine will eventually be damaged, pieces of it will get into the channels of the engine and the piston will be broken.

If the adjustment is too rough (no exact setting), the springs on the adjusting screws are to blame.
