How To Wind The Fishing Line On The Trimmer Reel?

Many, having developed a factory line on a newly acquired trimmer, try to reel in a new one, but cannot, because they do not know how to properly wind the line on the reel (spool) of the trimmer. It seems that there is an instruction, but it still does not work. Let’s try in this article to deal with this issue.
So, to reel the line, you first need to remove the spool from the trimmer. it will be more convenient. The method of removal will depend on the type of trimmer.

Remove the spool from the trimmer.

On small electric trimmers with a lower location of the engine (when it locates on the ground) at the coil, usually, there are two keys on the sides. Click on them and disconnect one half of the coil body from the second, which remains on the trimmer. Together with the first half, the inner part takes out, on which the fishing line is directly wound. When parsing, be careful: inside there is a spring that can fly out and get lost.

On electric and petrol trimmers with a bent rod (on such trimmers there is still no possibility to put a knife) you need to wrap the coil body with one hand, and with the other hand, you start to rotate counterclockwise the existing lamb. It is he who fastens the spool to the trimmer bar. Unscrewing the lamb, carefully remove the entire coil, trying not to lose the existing spring.
On electric and gasoline trimmers with a straight barbell and a gearbox at its end (on such trimmers, in addition to the line, you can also install a knife) look for a hole under the coil, insert a screwdriver into it, for example, gently rotate the coil until the screwdriver crawls even deeper, the reel is locked. Now we twist the whole coil clockwise (as the thread is left) and remove it from the trimmer. Next, disassemble the coil. It can be assembled using snaps or twisted lamb. If the coil is on the latches, then we press on the sides of the coil to the base of the locks so that they are bent back and free one half of the coil body from the other. Lamb unscrew. It may also be the third type of connection between the two halves of such a coil: with it, you need to grab the lower part with one hand and the upper part with the other and start turning them in opposite directions. When disassembling such a coil, you must also ensure that the existing spring is not lost.
Now, removing and disassembling the coil, proceed, in fact, to the winding.

Winding process.

If your coil is designed to work with only one antenna, then everything is simple. It is necessary to wind off 2-4 m of fishing line (depending on the size of the coil), find the hole fixing the fishing line on the inside of the coil, insert one end of the fishing line there and start winding the fishing line in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the coil on the trimmer. On the inside of the coil, it is usually indicated by the arrow, which side to wind the line. Having coiled the line, we leave a small piece of it unnumbered to expose it. This piece is fixed in a special tongue located on the inside of the same reel and designed so that the fishing line does not unwind at the time of collecting the reel. If there is no such key, then you will have to hold the line with your finger to prevent it from unwinding during the further gathering of the reel. Next, we take the outer part of the coil and thread the outer piece of fishing line into the existing hole, assemble and put the coil back on the trimmer.
If the coil is designed to work with two antennae, then do the following. On the inside of the coil, we look at how many grooves are available for winding the fishing line. There may be one or two. If the groove is one, it means that both antennae are wound on this one groove. If there are two grooves, then each antenna is wound along its groove. The reel with one groove should have a through the hole in which inserts the fishing line. We wind off 2-4 m of fishing line, pass it through this hole so that it sticks out equally on each side of the fishing line. And at the same time, we wind both antennae of the fishing line in one direction, opposite to the direction of rotation of the coil on the trimmer and coinciding with the direction indicated by the arrow on the inside of the coil. We leave a little non-woven fishing line, fix the resulting ends in unique slots, and if not, hold them with our fingers. We thread both ends into the existing holes in the outer body of the coil. We assemble the reel and fasten it to the trimmer.
With two grooves, a piece of fishing line 2-4 m long fold in half, resulting in the fold of the loop we insert the loop into the groove between the two grooves, and wind both ends of the fishing line at the same time, each along its groove. Further actions are similar to the previous version.

There are also coils in which the line passes through the through hole on the inside, the ends of the line, without reeling, pass completely through the holes on the outer body of the coil, collect the coil and begin to rotate the button, which is usually pressed, in order to release the line to the extent of its wear. Rotate the button. inside the line itself is wound. At the same time, turning it in the “wrong” direction will not work, since it can only spin in one direction. If you adopt, then you can wind the line on such a reel, even without disassembling it. you need to combine them through the hole of the inner drum with the holes on the outer body of the coil, and then thread the line in them.

That’s all for this issue. Successful winding!
