Tested with reciprocating saws from Bosch, DeWalt, Hitachi, Makita, Milwaukee, and Ryobi. Each tool went through a series of three tests to find out which reciprocating saw is the most advanced, fastest, and most comfortable.
Choice of saw blades for reciprocating saws
One of the nicest features of reciprocating saws is that almost all models use the same saw blade attachment, so when choosing consumables you are not tied to the manufacturer. But this conceals some difficulties for uninitiated users who find it difficult to decide on the choice of canvas, given their huge variety. For the tests, we selected the previously reviewed Milwaukee Sawzall saw blades of the s Ax and Double Duty Torch ranges.
For wood or wood with hammered nails, Milwaukee Ax saw blades work best. This blade has a frequency of teeth of 5 pieces per inch, there are models in lengths of 150 and 300 mm. Saw blades with a lower frequency of teeth allow you to cut homogeneous materials, such as wood, but the cut is coarser. The length of the blades should be selected based on the size of the sawn parts.
For cutting metal, the Milwaukee Double Duty Torch saw blade is the best choice. When processing metal, it is better to opt for blades with a high frequency of teeth. These saw blades are available in several versions (10, 14, 18 and 24 teeth per inch). During testing, we used a blade with 18 teeth per inch. Although the cutting speed decreases as the number of teeth increases, this blade provides better control and a better cutting edge.
If you need to cut, for example, PVC, the choice can again be stopped on blades for metal, but pay attention to the versions with 10 or 14 teeth per inch. During testing we used Milwaukee Double Duty Torch saw blades with 14 teeth per inch.
