Chamfering tool for the hole

Features of the chamfering process

For cutting edges on metal products special units are used. chamfering machines, which are distinguished by the method of cutting into three kinds (air-flame, mechanical and gas-oxygen equipment).

  • The beveling tool is clamped to the sheet edge or the inside of the metal pipe.
  • Next, the required grinding angle is set.
  • When the machine is switched on the cutter head is brought near the workpiece and the chamfering takes place.
  • After the job is finished, the cutter returns to its home position.
  • After chamfering is done the working surface of the article is considered to be prepared for further welding work.

When chamfering, a welding reservoir (bath) is formed where the hot welding compound collects. The chamfered edge has a certain bluntness of about 3-5 mm. When the tank is filled with welding consumable, the chamfering area is melted by itself. Due to this, the necessary tightness of the weld is achieved and additional reliability is created.

Deburring tool NB1100

Good day to you all. In my last review where I dealt with the pipe flare tool I wrote: after receiving the set “file all the parts”. And then I remembered by analogy with the commercial: “where was? beer was drinking ah, don’t the guys know”, because “they don’t clean guns abroad with bricks long time ago”, and there is a special tool for this purpose which is called “grate-cleaner” (“grate”. from German word “grat”. excess of metal, remained on edges of articles after any kind of processing). But abroad, of course, it has a completely different name, more often it is called “Deburring tool“. If you’re interested, get under the hood. A little history. Many Soviet constructors had a footnote in the instructions that the parts should be “filed” before assembly, and later this even gave birth to a folk meme and many anecdotes on the subject. But of course this could not go on indefinitely because it’s not convenient and productive, because this is the 21st century. Over time, a whole class of tools was invented for this purpose, “Deburring Tools,” and all we have to do is use them. A little about the product itself. Of course it is not branded Kraftool, Rothenberger or RUKO for example. NB1100. this is a typical representative of Chinese-program, it does not have anything outstanding, but it does not work bad, and the price is inexpensive in contrast to the branded. But for me “in the Chinese version” such form factor is too flimsy. I saw similar enclosures from Milwaukee, but I never held them in hands, and those I got at work had a body made of aluminum. Besides these two, I often find NG1000 at ali, but I did not buy it. For home use NB1100 is enough to “scrape” dural for me, and branded machines are delivered to my pantry at work. Purpose As many other tools of “Deburring Tools” class NB1100 is designed for deburring and chamfering on various profile surfaces, for removal of burr from outside and inside of copper, plastic, aluminum and steel pipes, as well as for chamfering of straight edges, keyways, etc.п. Thanks to replaceable blades, there is no need to resharpen or completely replace the tool when it is worn out. It is possible to process materials such as steel, aluminum, plastic, copper, brass, cast iron. For this purpose, you can find and buy a lot of interchangeable blades of different types on aliexpress. Here for example one of the simplest most common blades: When buying blades of course necessary to look for treatment of what materials they are designed, so as not to try to remove the burr with steel blade designed for plastic treatment. For this purpose, sellers who sell them usually have signs like this: Here are some of the stores where you can buy replacement blades: https://aliexpress.ru/item/item/1005001626270980.html https://aliexpress.ru/item/item/1000004810988.html https://aliexpress.ru/item/item/33023695930.html https://aliexpress.ru/item/item/32800040127.html Besides simple blades, there are often highly specialized ones, e.g. for hole machining. Their design is similar to countersinks: And also in the form of “funnel”. it is convenient to remove burr from the outer side of pipes and rods: The class of “Deburring Tools” does not end here of course, but today we have basically only a review of Deburring Tools NB1100, so this information was just a context, as additional tips. Application of course further in the text should have shown a sea of photos from which would be little understandable, and even less visible (any metal tends to shine and give reflections), so I think it is uninformative and will limit myself to a photo “was / is”. For more information, you can watch the professionally filmed videos on the subject of “Deburring Tools”:

Note: of course the video is slowed down, in real life they do it quickly and without looking. often than not, one sits on a chair and chats with an interlocutor (looking more at him than at the part), rather than “savoring” a similar process t.е. Everything is done by feel and checked with a “finger gauge. Cautions: When buying other (less widespread) models of graetosnimzers at aliexpress be careful not to go like this: Of course “should”, but where were his eyes when he bought the product with a collet?

And the traditional: what did the hamster say?? Homa flatly refused to participate in the photo shoot with the tools from the past century and ran away: He must have mistaken them for instruments of the Medieval Inquisition and thought they wanted to skin him alive. But modern burr removal tool Khoma examined attentively: and “want to”)) by the way sets of jigsaws born in the USSR did not scare Khoma either. So, the choice between these tools is up to you: And we have finished our business with Homa and wash our hands until the next review. Good luck with your needlework.

This 88 Tool Will Change Your Metal Work Forever!

See the tool overview video below:

Tools made by the Israeli company Grattec are known worldwide for their high quality and durability. In 30 years of activity, the company has succeeded in penetrating the international tool market. Today their products are used both in household and industrial scale, for example in aviation, metallurgy and automobile industry.

Almost all Grattec products are reusable. Tool design allows easy change of parts and usage of one and the same handle with different blades. At our company you find a wide range of supplies, which will help to expand the functionality of even the most modest starter kit: handles (among them it is worth to allocate ergonomic, as well as versions with a compartment for storing spare blades); blade holders; blades (different purpose, shape, compatibility with materials, etc.), grinding blades (for different types of materials, etc.). д.); countersinks; cleaners; scrapers;

Russian consumers can now also be convinced of the reliability and perfect quality of GRATTEC products. The company INTERTULMASH deals with the exclusive supplies of Israeli tools in Russia. than 140 Grattec-branded items are now available for customers in stock, and the range will only expand in the future.

Shipment arrives in a standard polyethylene bag, but the tool itself is in an unusually colorful (for a product category “under 3 bucks”) cardboard box. What is this tool like?? It consists of a blue plastic body in the shape of a fountain pen, and a rotating blade that is secured by turning a black part around its axis. Casting quality is average, the black part shows signs of mold wear. The blue body has a 5 mm through hole inside. you can install a needlewheel/plotting awl. Hole related items: counterbores, countersinks

The countersinks allow the bolt to press against the hole, providing an even surface. They may also be needed for placing the head of the bolt. They are usually either cylindrical or tapered.

In a pinch, you can use a twist drill bit to make a cylindrical countersink, but that’s not really the right way to do it because twist drills don’t create flat-bottomed holes. Instead you should use an end mill for the boring. First drill the hole, then countersink it.

For conical countersinks I prefer point drills. They work well, and it’s good to have one on hand anyway.

How to choose an automatic edge cutter for sheet metal

Mandatory preparatory step before welding or painting is the machining of the material edge (chamfering). Depending on the type of product, thickness of blanks, as well as other parameters, on which we will dwell in more detail in this article, it is necessary to select optimal equipment.

chamfering, tool, hole

A sample of the machined edge of a metal sheet (chamfered with the UZ-50 edger)

Unfortunately, we often encounter situations when customers come to us who have already purchased equipment for edge preparation, but it makes the beveling process at best too costly both in terms of time and money, or, in the worst case. it is completely unsuitable for the task in real life. The price of mistake is too high, especially if you consider the considerable cost of this equipment.

If you are faced with the necessity of choosing an automatic edger for the first time and you do not have time to understand all the details of the process, compare dozens of models from different manufacturers, and then, at your own expense, to arrange expensive experiments on your own production, we strongly recommend you to use a simple form for choosing an automatic edger. But be that as it may, first of all, I advise you to still take 5 minutes and read this article, and I will try to set forth the material, which will more than recoup the time spent.

Pneumatic

Pneumatic-driven edgers will be a great option in the absence of electricity or when there is a risk of damaging the wires. The main drawback the performer will need additional equipment compressed air source, such as a compressor.

TT-80

Foskisnimatel TT-80 pneumatic edger, designed for internal and external chamfering of pipes. Fastening to the workpiece by means of three self-centering cams.

  • Pipe inner diameter 28-76 mm.
  • Outer diameter of pipes 32-80 mm.
  • Maximum pipe wall thickness 15 mm.
  • Stroke of the cutter 35 mm.
  • Speed 55 rpm./min.
  • Pneumatic drive 960 l./min.
  • Voltage 220 V.
  • Machine weight 16 kg.

NT1738M

The pneumatically operated chamfering tool NT1738M is used for edging pipes with an internal diameter of 60 to 102 mm.

The unit is mounted on the inside of the workpiece.

Edging, chamfering

Edging (chamfering). technological operation to prepare material surface for welding. The quality of this procedure directly affects the reliability and durability of the welded structure, such as bridge supports. No one likes to see bridges collapse.

To choose the right edger you need to have a clear understanding of what you want to do: whether you want to machine a sheet, a pipe or a complex geometric shape, or all at once.

Automatic edgers are suitable for companies where edging is regularly performed in high volumes. Their basic material is long straight sheets (UZ-50) and short flat parts (SBM-500). Some automatic edge cutters are also available for pipe machining. See an example of sheet metal processing with automatic edger.

Samples of chamfering performed with automatic edgers

Manual chamfering machines are used when maximum flexibility is required and the chamfer width does not exceed 22 mm. They can be used to process curved surfaces, round off edges for painting, countersink holes, process pipe ends, and much more. As a rule, customers prefer manual machines because of their low cost, compactness, versatility and high reliability (there is nothing to break).

Machines for pipe flank treatment should be singled out. They have a special design that ensures rigid mounting on curved surfaces. Their selection is carried out proceeding from a range of diameters

Besides the differences in the type of tasks performed, modern chamfering machines are distinguished by the processing methods.

Edge-splitting machines use special solid cutters, and edge-splitting machines use milling heads with carbide inserts. Trimmers and pipe cutters use cutters made under a certain angle and type of processing. As you see, the range of equipment and consumables for it is quite wide. You can find all these items on our site in the accessories for edgers, and if you do not find something or have a question you can always call us for advice.

Chamfering as a component component

Often there is a need for additional machining of inner and outer edges in the process of manufacturing parts. It is carried out at a given angle. A surface which is received as a result of such processing is called a chamfer.

Chamfering is used to solve the following tasks:

chamfering, tool, hole
  • technological (ensuring the best possible connection between two parts);
  • Technical (giving the product the required shape);
  • Ergonomic (to ensure the most convenient and safe use of the product);
  • improvement of ornamental and aesthetic properties of the finished product.

Such processing is used in many areas: mechanical engineering, in preparation for welding work, in the manufacture of furniture and decorative interior products. The choice of methods depends on the task at hand and is always in accordance with the design documentation.
