How to attach a plough correctly to a single axle tractor

Stages, how to properly adjust and tune the plow on the motor block

Every farmer knows that to plow a plot without the help of modern equipment. the most difficult work. But if this is not done, you will not get a rich harvest. The plow on your motor-block needs fine-tuning before you start work. It’s not hard to do if you do it in order. Here are three steps on how to properly adjust and tune the plow on your power tiller.

How to make a plough for the “Neva” power tiller with your own hands?

If you do not have extra money, you can make a plow for your power tiller yourself. It should be noted that without a clear drawing and without professional tools you will not be able to do it. So immediately equip yourself with everything you need.

  • Plowshaft. You will need a steel thickness of 3 to 5 millimeters. You can make a removable ploughshare, which can be made from a circular saw disc. If you do not have such a possibility, you can use ordinary steel without heat treatment. The cutting of the coulter should be finished on an anvil.
  • The blade. For the mouldboard, a pipe about 0.5 meters in diameter with a wall thickness of about 3 (three) millimeters is suitable. It has to be cut and turned on the anvil and the sharpening machine.
  • Reassemble the plough in exactly the same way as described above. You can also first make a model out of cardboard, repeating all sizes. If you are satisfied with the solid construction, you can move on to your machine.

A self-made plough is no different from a bought one. If you are a jack of all trades, your plough might even be superior to a commercial one.

The first and most important rule is safety. Choose your trailing tires wisely. Do not chase the diameter, otherwise the linear speed will be too high The ideal diameter is 460-500 millimeters. Plough dimensions depend on tractor weight. this factor must also be taken into account

The heaviest ploughs with capture of 23 centimeters are installed on motor-technics with weight about 100 kg. For machines with weight to 75 kg it is better to fit ploughs with capture of 18 centimeters. Lighter machines are fitted with a 13 cm plough.

Here also it is sometimes made the mistake to buy rather lightweight aggregate and mount a big plough on it. If you try to use such a “duo” on rough ground, the effect will be absolutely predictable. “does not plow”. But the problem is not in qualitative characteristics of a plough but in its wrong selection and/or adjustment. In general, the design of the unit is simple and straightforward. But under any circumstances, as well as for any other technique, it needs care, timely maintenance and change of wear parts. Use only high-quality replacement parts recommended by the manufacturers.

See the following video on how to properly adjust the plow on a power tiller.

Mounting a plow on a single-axle tractor

Regardless of the design features of the plow, its size and shape, it is attached to the motoblock with a special coupling. It comes in a universal or stationary type. The first option is the best because of the greater adjustability of the unit.

The type of coupling does not affect the peculiarities of mounting the construction on motor vehicles.

It is possible to hitch a plow to a power tiller by following a simple scheme:

  • The machine is set on an elevated position. You can use bricks or logs;
  • The plow hitch is attached to the towbar. Both holes on the devices must fully coincide;
  • The coupling on the towbar must be fixed with a bolt.

Do not forcefully clamp the bolt when attaching the attachment. Too stiff a connection will adversely affect the quality of plowing the soil. When you create resistance during the operation of the plow, it will be thrown slightly to the sides. To avoid this you should leave a horizontal clearance of about 50.

Reverse plow for power tiller. making procedure

As in the first case, to make a rotary plow, you need to study the scheme of construction. Otherwise, even the slightest inaccuracy will result in low efficiency of the finished attachment. To make a Zykov plow, proceed in this order:

  • To make the ploughshare use sheet steel, about 5 mm thick. Cut a piece out of it, heat it up with a gas burner, and bend it as shown in the picture. The blade must be removable. The cutting part is hammered on an anvil and sharpened on a sharpening machine;
  • Next, make the mouldboard. It can be made from a pipe with 5 mm wall thickness and 50 cm diameter. Using a gas torch, cut out the blade blank from the template, and then grind the product with an angle grinder;
  • After that, make a plow body from sheet steel, 3 mm thick, and assemble the construction, using welding;
  • Deburr the welding seams with a file and sandpaper.

The disc plough: the algorithm

Circular plow plow is used to prepare even furrows for planting vegetables. Using the drawings, you can control the progress of assembly and avoid defects.

Disc plow is made according to the diagram below:

  • Support angle as a base. It is made from an angle with equal sides, its shelves after cooling should converge at an angle of 700;
  • The nose is welded to the corner. The heel is welded to the retaining bar;
  • Fix the cheeks to the support bracket with hinges. Side flaps should not touch each other when unfolded;
  • The swivel mechanism is welded to the stop angle at right angles.

Finish by adjusting the plow cheeks. They are fixed in a vice and adjusted until they point in different directions.

This figure represents the section of the attachment deepening into the soil during operation. It should be set at such a distance that the bayonet of the spade can take.

If the depth is shallow, most of the roots of weeds will remain in the ground, and this will require additional time and effort to control them. Otherwise, the upper nutritious part of the soil will mix with those below, and the planted crops will not receive the necessary vital substances.

The depth is adjusted by using the screws that connect the plow riser and the lock. This adjustment takes place by moving the equipment up or down. However, if there is one side connection and a hole, no adjustment is possible.

Adjusting the plow on a power tiller

To work on different types of soil, the machine needs to be adjusted differently. But the basic adjustment is based on several criteria:

Plowing depth. The further cultivation of crops depends on the adjustment of the plowing depth. If you set the depth insufficient, the roots of the noxious plants will remain under the ground, and if the depth is too deep, the fertile soil will be mixed and the plants will not get the nutrients they need.

Angle of attack. The adjustment is made with the help of the field board. The angle of attack affects the performance of the machine: if the angle of attack is greater than necessary, the device will get stuck in the ground and the single-axle tractor will stall; and if the angle of attack is insufficient, the plow will not remove the desired layer of soil.

First furrow. After all adjustments have been made, the first furrow must be ploughed. At this stage it becomes clear if the plough is correctly adjusted. During the next ploughing the machine is lowered with one wheel into the track and further adjustment is made in the furrow.

Adjusting the ploughing depth

The ploughing depth is set in two parameters:

Before setting off, find the flattest possible spot. If it is possible to make adjustments on the asphalt, then move the machine to the asphalt. When the machine plows the ground, the right wheel moves in the track and the left wheel is on the uncultivated ground. To recreate this position of the machine, you need to install under the left wheel of the power tiller, the height of which should be the depth of plowing.

Adjust the ploughing depth by means of the adjusting wheel. The deeper the support wheel is lowered, the shallower the ploughing depth and vice versa. Height of support wheel must be equal to the height of raised side.

Angle of attack

The angle of attack is set on the frame of the implement. Set the frame horizontally with the turnbuckle and lower the implement until the coulter blade touches the ground. Then raise the body slightly so that the rear part of the share is lifted a few centimetres off the ground.

If the angle of attack is too great, the single axle tractor will dig into the ground. If the angle of attack is too small, the unit will not plough down to the right depth and will only plough up the topsoil.

First furrow and blade angle

The last adjustment is the cutting of the first furrow. After the test ploughing, it becomes clear whether the machine is set correctly. If there is no sticking and the unit plows easily, it means that the plow is adjusted.

After marking a furrow the machine is lowered into the track with the right hand wheel. After that check the ploughing depth and adjust the machine. The ploughshare can now be properly sharpened.

Sharpening the share

Ploughshare (knife) is the main working element of plough. The ploughshare bears the brunt of the ploughing, because it is the element that cuts through the soil layer. Over time the share gets blunt, resulting in a reduced ploughing performance. The machine must be equipped with a removable coulter.

If the cutting edge is damaged, the unit does not penetrate the ground as easily and the single axle tractor begins to slip. If there is deterioration in ploughing, it is time for a repair. The coulter can only be properly sharpened on special equipment that heats the steel to make it malleable. Once the steel is more malleable, it is straightened, cooled, and sharpened. At home you can use a tool sharpening machine. Sharpen plowshares at a slight angle, on the side where they cut into the ground.

Adjustment on heavy power tillers

Adjustment of the plow on heavy diesel power tillers is the same as on light class machines. The only thing is that the heavy machines are not equipped with tines, because the weight of such machines exceeds 200 kg. The main thing is to observe safety precautions when connecting and plowing. The more powerful the machine, the more careful you need to be.

Working with a power block

Let’s dwell on the consideration of such issues of work with the motoblock, such as:

  • Preparing your Moto-Block to plow the soil on your plot
  • Assembling a plow and attaching a plow to a single-axle tractor
  • Adjusting the plow of a motorblock for plowing the soil
  • How to plow with a power tiller.

Cultivator plowing can be carried out only with the use of cleats, because the load on the single-axle tractor when plowing increases manifold, and the use of cleats greatly simplifies this process. The first thing you do is to remove the transport wheels and hubs, to which the transport wheels of the power tiller are attached. Buy mtz power tillers on the site pro-motobloki.ru.
